An example - a massive proportion of the emails we receive to the community box are about bans. Each and every one starts off with a protest of innocence. It is after about the 3rd or 4th email that the account holder changes tack and apologies for having used an autoclicker or bot, but just for a short time. Another couple of emails and they admit botting for X many days but they wouldn't do it again if we let them have their account back. And so it goes on. Botters lie, sadly. And people who you are sure would never bot often have. It is not a good thing, but it is the way it is.
Lots of truth spoken here.
While I'm obviously not a J-Mod responding to claims, I have dealt with a fair bit of cheaters (and botters) as a clan leader. They are initially adamant that they are innocent and did nothing wrong, but once they see you are even more adamant than they are, they start giving the truth in bits, then apologizing (although note: They don't mean it), hoping your decision would change.
Cheaters lie, and they are often the pathological kind of liars.
It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. ~Herman Melville
On a kind of related subject, how can I report someone for botting if I can't find them to report them ?
I wont go into detail here, but I have a clan member who is pm off and out of cc, with some other suspicious circumstance which lead me to a botting conclusion. However dispute having the higher clan ranks looking for him, he remains elusive. I don't want to take any acton other than reporting to Jagex - But I can't find him to catch him in the act.

Hmm sure there is a way but i forgot, try examine someone random, click the flag then you might be able to change the name in the report screen?
This thread's title is "For Mod Matthe", so... perhaps this won't be construed as derailing, etc?
Can you append a link to the continuation thread for the one titled "ClanLabs" in your last post prior to locking? There were many people following it with interest, including some J-Mods. "Grave-bumping" it may be, but it's usefulness far from worn. Which is why I decided to repost it in General so the entire game's community can utilize it this time.
Thread in CLF discontinued.

A friend of mine was actually banned for botting earlier this week. He sent an appeal in and it got reversed a day later.
I think it's safe to say that say that Jagex has sufficient competency to know who to ban, and to know when they screwed up.

We cannot abuse our privileges on here for personal issues.
Andras is wholly correct. If I spent all day chasing personal or friends account requests from CLF members then none of the rest of my work would get done. And that would not be good for anyone, least of all me.
Locking this thread now.
