With 87% of the players being older than 16 and only 1% being younger than 13, they can't really keep RuneScape as some childrensgame without these kind of jokes. It's up to you to handle it, but almost every young lad enjoys suggestive jokes and it's part of growing up. Just let them have fun with it, after a week it's not new any more and they'll hop to another subject. I would also suggest to change your rule into "Do not deliberately offend anyone". It's impossible to not offend anyone, unless you don't talk. But even that can be considered offensive. :P

100% agree with this. The whole "no adult themes" is hard when in Runescape there will be a lot of them if you look hard enough. Loads of Family tv shows include innuendo, even the odd kids cartoon includes it. The whole point of innuendo is that kids don't understand it and don't pick up on it, and those who do might find it funny, it's never meant to be offensive. It's a 13+ game.

This is exactly why my clan allows all kinds of topics... Ever since we stopped asking people to stop perfectly reasonable debate because it might "insult someone", weve had much less arguments and a lot more nice, enlightening talks.
People can (and should) take care of themselves. Come on, silly talking sword is just silly. I cannot imagine how it might offend anyone... And sub13 kids shouldnt even play RuneScape.

In my clan, chat is rated "G" with some "PG-13" with the huge diversity that makes up Runescape we have found over the years that this works. When we recruit a new member we ensure that they agree to this rule.

As far as what happens with certain augmented items or inuendos in the game I have found being a youth volunteer for 35 years that most, I would say 95% or more, are more informed...that being said Clan Chat is still no place for sexual inuendos, politics, religion, racism.

I was a little surprised by some of these messages but I think Fire Hawk is right that the vast majority of players are old enough to appreciate the humor.

However, I don't think suggestive messages are necessary for RuneScape to become more than a children's game. RuneScape is already much more than that, because of the huge array of content and complexity of gameplay. I find these kind of jokes to be in poor taste, personally.
