Many months ago, we were in the process of finishing up the last citadel building upgrade. We'd left the battlefield as the last structure remaining to be upgraded. Our visitor count was always right around 30. We admittedly cut it close most weeks. Percentage-wise, we were doing well considering we are a smaller clan. After many months of work we came to what should have been our final week of building upgrades. Our battlefield would be complete. But it didn't happen (through little fault of our own). The known glitch of all visitors not being counted jumped up and bit us. Twenty-nine visitors were counted and the upgrade didn't happen.

Since then, our membership has decreased. We've been stuck at needing 914 cloth and 8073 rations to finish the battlefield upgrade. I truly dislike leaving things unfinished. We could have had it completed by now, were it not for an annoying glitch and the visitor count requirement.

We're happy with the size of our clan and have very little interest in being much larger than we are currently. We basically recruit people we know rather than randoms and will continue with this approach regardless of what's done with citadel content.

Might this be the appropriate time to evaluate if visitor count is necessary or perhaps look at reducing the requirement like was done for upkeep?

We've been so close for so long. It would be wonderful if this was looked at sometime.

When upkeep was decreased, upgrade costs were increased in an effort to balance it out and keep it similar to how it had been in it's original state.
Saying that, it's unlikely you'll get a requirement decrease unless upkeep goes up again. Visitor count is an odd one, and not one I ever thought necessary, but, according to Maz, the citadel code is ridiculously complex and any sort of change would be, in most cases, to big. Not very difficult,
Just ask a few people if they could help you out for a week or 2 to upgrade your citadel.
Some people would happily come and help,
and then possibly you make a new group of friends ;)

To be honest - If I was just 1 or 2 visitors short of the final update, I would create a Citadel slave (if more than 1 needed maybe others could do the same). Now with membership payment by bonds and instant access to Citadel after joining a Clan it should not be too difficult to maintain for the period required.

The week I took over Citadel management many years ago I created an account called Tiger's slave (in another language). She just sat there in f2p for a long time just in case she was ever needed. She comes into membership occasionally just to stretch her legs now . She and a few others that friends created have never been needed but have sat in Clan for 4 years just in case :p

Good to see another world 79 clan leader on here and hope u get the upgrades done after the furor over invention dies down -- wouldn't try it real soon.

Thankfully, the Jagex citadel model fits us well and getting ours to tier 7 and fully built out was never a problem. With the issues you are having, I see a couple options to fix it.

1) Have a few people start alt accounts as suggested above and put on a push to get it done with those alts. Ironmen can do citadel, and maybe you and a few others want to join the red skull club and enjoy the benefits of the citadel on those accounts. The 75% XP reduction is so helpful...

2) Hire a group of temps. Plenty of people in RS that will do anything if u dangle enough GP in front of them. Get 6 people to join as temps to do citadel, knock out the upgrade and get paid.

3) Have a clan event to encourage the citadel upgrade with prizes awarded to people once the upgrades are done. We did a couple of citadel tournaments -skill competitions featuring the citadel skills we needed resources the most. The skills could be trained in or out of citadel and the prizes were _____ for 1st 2nd and third place with all prizes DOUBLED if the citadel upgrade were met. It got everybody talking about citadel and the 5 or 6 people that thought they were gonna win made sure the upgrades got done.

Good luck with the upgrade and remember to be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. No sooner will you have the upgrade done than clanmates will start asking "when can we have a clan dragon in our citadel?" And they won't want to hear "in the year 2525."

There is a big difference between running a host of dummy or alt account with the sole purpose building a Citadel that the Clan activity does not warrant (though alt accounts are used in so many other areas to rig / break game mechanics to the benefit of the individual not the Clan!!! , but I digress ) - and using an alt account in an emergency. An emergency to prevent a dilapidation due to unforeseen circumstances or as in the Op's case to get over an unsurmountable hillock which changing circumstances has caused - after all her clan has worked hard to earn the achievement and fallen at the finishing tape.

I am a firm believer in 'rules should be guidelines' and we should all use commonsense and empathy when applying them.

Edit - I have 5 accounts under my control, either owned by myself or a family member, who I could bribe to play again for a week or so. At any one time 3 of the 5 will have membership. All have worked in the Citadel at some time or another, while legitimately playing the game with them. If I activate 1 tomorrow & it goes into the Citadel - is it training a skill or is it being used to boost Citadel numbers? I would argue that only I would truly know. One of those accounts has been in 3 Clans for the sole purpose of helping and / or teaching Citadel best practise to new Clans starting on their Citadel journey - she has left their Clan and returned home when she was no longer needed.
