I'm guilty of changing my name too. I'm glad the ability exists, and I'm glad that members were given an opportunity to take names that have been inactive for a long time. As a merchant in RS and engineering student IRL, I identify much more with this name than I did with my previous one "Accomplishes."

But I agree, there is value "lost" when you change your name. People slowly build up a reputation in various communities like the clan community or a specific subforum. If you change your name, you lose some of your own history.

I've been Ryanc360 for the past 9 almost 10 years, I've been in the same community equally as long, and the two clans I've lead in this time period could actually be considered sister clans. So there is a lot of history behind my name within my little community and I can't bring myself to change it =[

This also means I've also seen countless names come and go so when people start talking to me like we are old friends I just tell them I have no idea who they are. I try not to be too mean but I also make it a point not to be all that nice about it either. After all it's their fault for bothering me.

So annoying.

Someone once told me that if you change your rsn, then you lose your identity. I agree with that to some degree. But then on the other hand, many members in my clan have added to their identity through name changes;

I grant rank credit to any clanmate who adds our clan initials to their name.
Just an example 'Lokomo12640' changed his name to 'TE Lokomo'.
Same name.. but easier on the eyes and reps his clan lol.

^ I used to change my names often too but it was always something with Ceecs. So people still recongniced me. By the wat ceecs has no meaning even not sure how to pronounce either :p

Then it got sniped long time ago by a friend for fun I guess. So I could not return to my original name. Lucky for me it came free with the 1st name batch :) And even got my irl name on my alt :)

At SoA we discourage people putting the clan initials... It's just in case some newer members who we haven't weeded out yet do something untowards in-game. :)

I would pronounce it as "Seeks."

That is how i tell people it cause I think it is pronounced as that in english :p
