Hey all, so since the citadel was released my clan has never missed a week of upkeep and have maintained (with some close calls) a tier 7 citadel. For the first time we most likely won't meet upkeep this week which is a huge blow to my clan. Many of my members work hard every week to reap the benefits of the avatars etc.

My question is: why is upkeep so expensive? I feel like we do it every week just to keep what we have and never do we have excess resources to build something new and fun. It makes working on it so pointless sometimes.

I understand that the purpose of upkeep was to keep high tier citadels available only to "large" clans, but it feels really unfair that after nearly two years of work my clan is going to lose it all. Clans in general in Runescape aren't as big as they used to be; what would you guys think of a lowered or even nonexistent upkeep?

I mean, if everybody had a Tier 7 citadel then it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment. My clan has never failed to meet resource upkeep either however we dilapidated twice shortly after citadels came out because of the visitor requirement. That as since been removed so we no longer have any problems. My trick was to keep us at tier 5 until I was sure we could meet the requirements for tier 6 upkeep.

Another thing you have to look at is that it actually takes two weeks to completely downgrade your citadel/plots if you fail to make upkeep. The first week things just become dilapidated. If you make upkeep while your citadel is dilapidated then the next week things will go back to normal.

Lastly, I'm not sure about this so don't quote me but I think if you make sure the citadel itself meets upkeep then some of your plots can dilapidate without losing the avatars.
