I just took my final for my 8 week network security course. On the final the last question asked us to pick two companies and look up their ethical code of conduct on the internet. Find one good point and one bad point for each.

One of the companies I chose was google. How I couldn't I? I use them every day I want to know what their ethical policy is. Makes sense right?
This is what I found out...

Dog Policy
Google’s affection for our canine friends is an integral facet of our corporate culture. We like cats, but we’re a dog company, so as a general rule we feel cats visiting our offices would be fairly stressed out. For more on this, see our Dog Policy

Drugs and Alcohol

Our position on substance abuse is simple: It is incompatible with the health and safety of our employees, and we don’t permit it. Consumption of alcohol is not banned at our offices , but use good judgment and never drink in a way that leads to impaired performance or inappropriate behavior, endangers the safety of others or violates the law. Illegal drugs in our offices or at sponsored events are strictly prohibited. If a manager has reasonable suspicion to believe that an employee’s use of drugs and/or alcohol may adversely affect the employee’s job performance or the safety of the employee or others in the workplace, the manager may request an alcohol and/or drug screening. A reasonable suspicion may be based on objective symptoms such as the employee’s appearance, behavior or speech.

Screw those kids who dream of being an astronaut, my dream is to work for google!

1) Do you see yourself as the most important person of the clan?
- No - the most interesting maybe, but not the most important ;)

2) Have you ever kicked a person from your clan that you considered as a personal friend?
-No, fortunately I’ve never had any reason to!

3) Are you able to control your anger when a member does something very wrong?
-I think so, although there generally aren’t any major issues that crop up

4) Do you rank up people fast?
-Initial few ranks can usually take up to a couple of months (being promoted after time in the clan rather than people feeling biased against), but after that it it’s due to activity and votes.

5) Do you talk with members using other sites/ programmes? (aka skype, facebook etc.)
-I talk my with my co-leaders via facebook

6) Have you ever considered quitting your clan?
-I quit runescape for a year and a half or so, but I left the clan in very capable hands until I’d had the break from the game I needed - I had been running the clan for 4/5 years before then so I was possibly understandably tired! :P

7) Do you discuss clan problems with the whole clan and not only with the high ranked members?
-Yes, we’re a small community so everyone needs to be involved and pull together for problems

8) Have you ever had a dream about your clan?
-More times than I care to admit. It can happen in seven years, right? I’m not going insane, I SWEAR I’M NOT!

9) Do you think your clan is the best clan in RuneScape?
-It’s the best clan to me :)

10) Does your clan stop you from playing other games?
-I don’t really play other games anyway

11) Would you ever join a clan again as a recruit?
-Probably not - I’ve never been in a clan as a recruit. Clan’s weren’t as big a part of the game when I decided to make one, and while I’ve been in the game I’ve been leading that clan. Another clan would be too strange!

13) Do you attend all the events your clan has in a week?
-The ones I can get online for, definitely - I wouldn’t ignore an event at all if I was online

14) Do you always read the applications new members post before accepting them?
-Yes, although we accept everyone - are application is mainly just to give us an idea about what the new member enjoys doing in the game :)

15) Are you happy with your clan as it is now?
-I’d like it to be a bit bigger and more active, but there are some wonderful characters that I’m lucky to know and who make up for numbers!

Your Clan

Tell us about your clan!

1) What kind of events does your clan like to do?
-Bit of everything - capping, clan wars (usually safe and intra clan, but it’s great fun), fight pits, KBD, all sorts really!

2) How old is your clan and how long have you been leading it?
-Founded 16/03/2006, so just over 7 and a half years old. Apart from a year or two break from the game (during which I was an honorary leader for whenever I did log in) I’ve been leading it the whole time

3) How does your clan handle ranking?
-Ranking initially based on time in the clan, then based on activity and friendliness to other members. Usually clan ranks don’t mean a great deal for us other than for people to show their dedication, because we let everyone have a say in general clan business and anyone can host an event if they want to do something in particular!

4) Does your clan have any requirements for new members?
-Being a decent human being is all we ask!

5) Do you have many admin+ ranks in your clan?
-5 I think

6) Does your clan have a clan citadel?
-Yes, just T1 though

7) What updates would you like to see in the future to help run/ improve your clan?
-Being able to programme messages that members can receive on log-in (like the reminders about daily tasks and SOF etc), or an ability to send a message to clan members’ message centre, so they can receive messages offline. And off-game chat message service = great!

Thanks! Been aware of this forum for a while, but haven't started taking much notice of it until lately - I'm disappointed that I didn't, cos it's a great resource! I've taken a note of that chat and I might pop in when I log tomorrow, off for the night though! (Or the morning, but who's picky?)
