Night b4 last I went to bed at my usual time and fell right asleep. About an hour later I was lifted clear of the bed when a "Ki yi yi yi yi" sounded outside. I muttered about raccoons fighting and went back to sleep. About 45 min later a very shrill "ki yi yi yi" followed by a deeper "chir yi yi yi " woke me again. I got up and turned the light on and the sound stopped so went back to sleep. This kept up all night!!! I got up to investigate several times but never saw anything!
When it happened again about 5:30 am I got up [it was light enough now not to need lights] and very quietly opened the outside door... and there was a great big raccoon crouched by the compost barrel. I stepped out and yelled but it only crouched down more and refused to move an inch! I threw things at it until it finally backed into the woods out of sight.
I cheered, lol and figured that since I was up, I would do an upgrade or two on my comp since it was free internet time. I just sat down at the comp when the hair on my neck began to raise as the "ki yi yi yi yi" started all over again!!!!
This time hubby finally woke up, came stomping upstairs and opened the outside door then announced "Coon at compost barrel" [no duh!!]
I grabbed my dust mop and headed out to put the run to it for good and again it backed off into the woods and this time I looked into the compost barrell and there was the tinest baby 'coon trapped in the barrell, lol. All that shrilling was coming from it! If I had dared pick it up I could have cupped it in both hands with room to spare! I've never seen one that small b4.
I tipped the barrell over gently and it headed for the woods. End of the story I thought.
Last night it happened again!!!! Because I now knew what the sound was I was able to sleep through but this morning I investigated the barrel... yup he was there again!
I grabbed my camera and took this:

I've a feelling he won't be so little and cute if he's found such a good source of food, but I'd forgive him too looking like that with such intense eyes :~p
edit :~ having shown this image of cuteness to several members of the household, he/she seems to have become a background image of several devices, also ensuing discussions about suitable names are in progress!

Definitely Aaron and yes Cai... We really need to figure out some way to keep the coons out of that barrel or every one in 4 counties will be visiting us, lol.
As to name.. he/she already named her/his self... We named it Ki-yi

I opened my computer and much to my surprise there is a file "pibiview.js" waiting to download from a third party site. If you know how stuff is grouped in Windows, it is under the same tab as the RuneScape client. I won't write the name of the site here but it is flagged on URLVoid. Is this a fluke or have other people gotten this? I haven't been on any unfamiliar sites and I am aware it is likely malware. I hit 'cancel.'
