Runescape has always been a three legged dog trying to catch up with the other dogs.

They only have these Solomon Stores, SOF and updates to make the game easier. Our generation is about demand and we expect to do work for little or no effort. That's why this beloved company has been so time consumed in the merchandise field of Runescape. It is only a money gimmick but do you blame them, to be honest no. They had to make a leap like this to even come close in the competition with the other Multiplayer games. At the end of the day, it is still a business and it is about making the precious green stacks.

Runescape has been a better game but will never be a great game. You may ask why I still hang around on Runescape from time to time, well it is quite simple, you become very close and make life long relationships with some people on this game. Runescape has a strong community but not the strongest game which can always be intended to of course.

Just to add on: I believe that Jagex knows how to get rid of bots all at once but they are only doing it by small measurements to tease and have us really think they are busting their tail off to get rid of these bots. Like I said on how Jagex is a business, they are not going to risk losing all that profit from the P2P bots that has always been loyal to them for years. That's when we come to play, the sooner we exceed the total amount of income that Jagex needs to substain any blows, they will get rid of these bots and be glorified and praised for what they have done but the truth of the matter is that they all along had known how to deplete the population of the bots but were scared to take the risk of undergoing that strategic movement.

So, the sooner you take your wallet out and pay for those cosmetic goods in the market, the sooner the bots will be gone.

^ This last part could be very wrong which probably is but it somewhat makes sense if you ask me. I am just trying to be a Detective is all :P

Just my two cents.
You are a stud

I don't want to risk causing an argument about bots on the lounge. But Jagex loses money due to bots.
Bots often are paid for using stolen or fraudulent credit cards... which they then have to pay legal fees to get them sorted out. They need money for the legal fees taking bot companies down.

Until I get hard data on how often "often" is, I have to assume that this is just Jagex trying to save face.

I also disagree with Irenic, though. I don't think making more money off microtransactions will make Jagex crack down on bots. If they've determined that the most profitable business strategy is to let bots live, they will let bots live regardless of what profit/loss they're making otherwise. Not making any claims as to whether or not bots are profitable, as I can't without hard data on these legal costs, but I highly doubt that increased microtransaction revenue would make them want to lose money (either by losing bot memberships or by spending more setting up anti-bot measures) on bots.
