You're welcome :)

Occamy, I never had any intent of sending anything to Jagex as I know they don't do anything about trust trade scams. However, the proof I have is a combination of screenshots from the first person he scammed, as well my own screen shots of private conversations with 4 different people (including the scammer) all with all timelines and most details being identical. In addition, I have screen shots of him saying he would give the 50m back to our clan mate, meeting up like he was going to, and then leaving the clan and teleporting/blocking. With the last senerio, there were many eye witnesses, including myself. Again, I know it wouldn't matter to jagex due to trust trading, but I figured it might matter to his next clan leader.

If Jagex were to implement such a system where clans can opt in to not allow people caught scamming with Jmod detection methods then I would support that. As for a one where clan leaders can input names, that's just ridiculous.

What if the blacklist wasn't created by Jagex though? What if it were kept on a third party offsite that asked for something as simple as a screenshot of proof?

Show of hands here: Who would approve of a community-run clan blacklist that's offsite?

That's what I called ridiculous.

While this sounds like a good idea to keep other clan leaders on alert, it just doesn't seem practical in use.

Screenshots can be edited, and someone could add names to there of people they just don't like, thus removing the validity of what they were accused of.

Plus, if someone changes their name twice, tracking them down would become a hastle.

If you truly feel that you need to warn others about an incident that occurred within your clan, it would be best to contact the leader of their new clan and discuss the issue through pm.

It is quite practical, there is one around for Oldschool currently being used by 90% of clans. It's easy to keep track of names, whether they change their name twice or even four times.

Jagex will never implement anything like it, so it would be up to us to maintain. They feel it is unfair to others being cast out, but when it protects your clan it's always worth it.

Unfortunately, no matter what is done to idiot-proof any system, someone will have a bigger idiot to break it down. People who engage in trust trades and most scams are usually naive, gullible, and/or young. And there are some fairly creative carnivores out there looking to take advantage of those who are defenseless.

IMHO, the best thing we can do as clan leaders is have some guidelines that discourage trust trades and inform our members of the types of scams we know are out there. Remind them to be careful and that, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I have had my share of attempted scams over the few months I have been in RS. But a healthy skepticism and general distrust of others unless I really really really really know them in real life has kept me from actually getting scammed.

And now from the humor files:
RS mother to her real life son: Can I have that Guthans set back now, I want to use it.
Her son (shamefully): Um.....I still have most of the money.

We have recently perm banned a member for scamming 2 clan members but also a few other reasons.

I intend to track and let his future clan leaders know to keep a watchful eye on him. Up to now he has been removed from 2 clans.

I think a black list would be impossible to keep. I do think as leaders we should inform each other informed a new members that may cause an issue.

The only action that can be performed is ban the player from clan and inform clannies the reason for... Sometimes I warn the clan leader of the new clan so they are warned not to trust them. Ceecs - leader of Ceecs Clan

Over the years I've seen many black lists, but I mostly ignore them. Most if not all are filled with false reports or eventually get filled with them. And personally I wouldn't mind having former scammers on my Clan so long as they didn't scam anyone while they represented our Clan as Clan Members.

Because the way our Clan works with requiring people to apply on our offsite, that tends to filter out most kinds of unwanted people. Scammers are usually lazy and unwilling to fill out a 20 questions application. We had a good run of 9 years without scammers only to be broken because I shut down our website after the EOC and some Noob broke our record by scamming one Member due to lack of active leadership at the time; he would've been banned in the first place for begging for items, but unfortunately our Clan was going through some tough times.

Luckily, our Clan now has an active leadership again as many of my old Deputies returned to the game and we launched a new website. We're still processing applications after the purge we did the other. O_o
