As more people are working from home and gaming online due to the coronavirus, there has been an increase in phone and internet outages. There are more people using the internet and companies that provide internet services throughout the world are currently working understaffed in attempts to comply with quarantine restrictions.

Discord was affected a few days ago so I've had to change the region of our server a few times so our members could talk on the voice channels, but it seems like they're now stable.
https://status.discordapp.com/

I also have missed phone calls which ended up going straight to my voicemail because it took so long for the phone call to get through.

I would strongly discourage people from sharing their phone number and social medias with people they met in-game. There simply isn't a need for that and it can lead to real-life threats. But you should tell your family members to perhaps download apps like WhatsApp, Viber and Signal which use your phone number as your user id to make voip phone calls. These apps may work to communicate even when regular phone calls and text messages aren't going through.

In my experience, Viber often times has better voip quality than WhatsApp and Discord when calling from a phone. Signal is simply more secure if you care about privacy. And while I prefer these alternatives, I'm mostly using WhatsApp at that moment since that's what my whole family has and it's easier to type from using Opera GX, the first gaming web browser.

...

So anyway that's my advice for now. I hope someone finds this information useful. #StaySafeAtHome

If you guys have any comments or anything you'd like to add about how coronavirus has affected you, I'd love to read about it. ^_^

As a clan we are seeing a lot more people online - everyone is being sensible and seems to be heeding the advice to stay home. So far not heard of anyone who has actually been diagnosed, and the entire situation is a bonding one with everyone pretty much in the same boat regardless of country of residence.

A huge big thank you to all those who are still required to work, and not able to do so at home. It's difficult for us all, but for those most of all.

It's putting people into debt, and eventually going to cause the suicide rate to rise. Add to that their growing impatience, boredom, etc...

Personally I'm heavily studied. Many conspiracies have been proven to be factual in this reality and this maybe no different.

A "super-bug" has been talked of for almost two decades now. Thing is, it's killed less than the flu, and less than many other causes (thus far), yet it's the first of its kind to shut down the entire world to some sort of crawl where the future isn't as ... certain(?) as it typically is? Why now; never before?

Humans are creatures of habit. Most won't know what to do. They'll either do whatever impulsive thing they want or follow orders... Both of which could be disastrous, but either way, distracting.

Personally, I was well on my way back toward financial freedom, and being debt free entirely from the past 17 years... but now I'm being derailed. And it took something as obscure as THIS to do it? I survived alot, and have had other personal turmoils besides finance. I just find it some sort of cosmic conspiracy against me personally to screw with me or something.

I'm not sure what the future holds. But I know those in "authority", or those whom wish to manipulate the planet are batshit stupid. Exist better. Eugenics? Genocides? Control? There's better methods to get what you want without destructive and sloppy methodology.

Is it caused by 5G? Nano-tech? A single-virus that you can re-catch endless times because each time it mutates you have to fight off infection again? Or is it multiple diseases being dispersed at one time, or different variants of the same one? Does it only affect certain people more? I hear it doesn't affect dogs! How strange...?

There's clearly alot unknown here. But the facts are this:
The shutdown and limiting of society to function as it has in the known past is causing fallout that will be very difficult to piece back together, that is if that's even an intention to do...

With the COVID-19 we have been averaging ~35-40 members every day constantly thought the day. We use to have peak times during the EU and then US times in middle it would be quiet or not many members online. Same during nights, now we're keeping steady at 35-40 members 24/7 which is amazing. Also with the Archs release, we have had a few days with 70+ members online.

Same with discord, it has also been poping not just messages but also in Voice chat. We have had a few days with 20+ members in voice chat at a time. we usually only see this during a DXP weekend or an event.

I feel like the community has come even closer.

That has been like the only blessing. With more people online, I'm seeing a few clans working on their organization and doing more events.

Some people are bored, so I'm taking volunteers and growing my staff. As I'm training new staff members, I've felt alleviated with less work. Now I'm just trying to build documentation so I can delegate even more. ^_^

But yeah... I know of a people who died and people who are currently sick with the coronavirus. O_o I've been trying to stay in touch with them at least once a day over the phone.

I'm avoiding going out. I went out last week because I was craving beer and a chicken ceasar salad. Weird combination, right? They got this bakery in California called Boudin SF that makes like a HUGE salad good for like 2-3 meals. :P Needed something to wake me up as the days seem to merge together and going out for a walk made me feel a little bit better. I haven't spent this much time avoiding sunlight since I had an accident a few years ago and suffered a concussion.

>:^) I'm feeling like a vampire slowly decaying due staying home...

I actually have to go to work a couple of days but the other days I can work from home. :)

We're seeing a big rise in people online at any one time - the combination of people being at home and the first piece of substantial new game content in ages.

However, we have had to postpone our annual real-life clan get-together. This was due to be held in southern Sweden this year, with most people travelling via Copenhagen - but obviously the severe cutbacks in travel options (cancelled flights, international trains/coaches not running) and the fact of Denmark's borders being closed have meant that we had no choice to cancel for the time being.

So far, all our clan members seem to be well, although several of us have had relatives hospitalised for COVID-19.

That sounds so cool, we've been dreaming about arranging something like this some day, but it's really hard to come by in reality (at least if you have very international clan). Awesome to hear some clans have actually succeed doing it. May I ask how many participants you've had and from how many countries, in single gathering?

---*---*---*---

But to the actual topic, we've noticed some growth in online numbers because of this situation too. Jagex timing for Archaeology could not have been better, since so many people have time to play now and when it was released and training has felt like a big community event. But unfortunately we've heard about confirmed cases of covid-19 in the clan as well.
