Normally this time of year (or before) the jmod in charge of the CLF would start a thread
Asking us for our suggestions for what we would like to see happen for clans in the comong year.

These days we don't really have a jmod. they too busy trying to get new players on stream or mobile. Thing is attracting new players is one thing, getting them to stay is another.

Now what's the main thing that keep us playing RS for year after year!?

Friends.

Where do most of us make our longest lasting RS friendships!?

Clans!!!

To have a thriving active RS community we need a thriving active Clan community.

As we not getting much support atm maybe we should grab it by the wotsits and do something about it ourselves?

Therefore I invite all to start a discussion about what needs to happen moving forward in the coming year to help improve the clan community.

Maybe if we can come up with some good enough ideas we could get a jmod to listen!?

I agree- it's people to play with.

XP competitions would be nice to track through the clan system so we could challenge our clanmates, or clue races or drop logs- or things that don't require pesky screenshots posted to external group chats to track.

I also loved using runemetrics but that's been broken for months.

In our clan we used to have regular internal clan skilling competition using the trackers on runeclan but yes more than anything else i would love to see the days of the clan cup come back. The old days under Mod Timbo when the only skills were the non buyable skills and no form of xp boost was allowed. I do miss mod timbo imltho best mod this form evr had.

on side note about skills competition I made a previous post about an idea to build a temporary instanced dome over lummy crater form the purpose of organising interclan competitions. The idea being if there was an instanced environ jmods could set rules to keep games fair.

Wow that is neat!

Yeah, with so much content in game- it's easy to find someone who can tell you how to something, but there's little reason to do stuff together- besides skilling at bank chests. Minigame rewards aren't as good- XP In citadel is really low, and people like to chat, but do their own thing. So XP events basically keep us together. 23 200ms. Founder of Jamandy52 skilling clan. How many people in your clan only play because of the friendships that they have built within your community? Time and time I hear this, myself for 1, I play to keep in touch with my friends.

We have just advertised for an allied Clan, not because we need new member but because we wanted to widen the activities we offer our members.

The Clan Cup was a good idea, sadly there were always Clans that found loop holes in the rules and competing against them was impossible as its so hard to get a level playing field. We often search for similar clans to do skill wars, but as there are so many ways to train the vast majority of skills its difficult to agree on the methods and boosts allowed.

I dont want this reply to be full of doom and gloom, but right now its hard to see any support we get form Jagex. This has to change.

I read numerous bugs that make a life harder, and yet they are never fixed.

All I would like to see is support from a J Mod, that actually cares whats happens to Clans. I appreciate, all are busy and have a list of responsibilities, but this makes a difference to 1000s of players and our members.

The increasing popularity of Old School has impacted on communication. Where is the joined chats?

The Citadel, more plots, and please fix the way you claim your free bxp.

Kicking inactive members, its a chore having to kick an individual member each time, how much better would it be if we can kick even 5 members per time?

Increase the ban list, people make numerous throwaway accounts to troll at certain times, can we please have a larger list?

Increase Clan sizes, on daily basis we have to remove members to make room for new ones.

If we have a concern, please make communication easier, posting on a voice for concern, which is rarely or never checked unless reminded is not good enough.

Make mini games great and relevant again, give us more content we can do as a Clan. Not just pvm, give us some variety.

Proud to say Clan Consentus is now 13 Years old and still going strong.

can't you put a code on guests now to stop undesirables?

Something that has been a worrying trend from jmods over past years is they would rather communicate via platforms other than their own website. very odd behaviour

yes yes yes. Was thinking about this lastnight. what would I really like to see happen!? well it's intercaln competitions but 2nd would be an overhall of all the old minigames. they could be made playable fun and sexy

The way we run our skills competitions is we have 2 skills running sunday 2pm to sunday 2pm.
Someone sets up trackers to see how much xp each clan member gets in those two skills during that period. Also we have a tracker for overall xp. for fairness we split hour members in each skill into high and low levels.

low levels 1 - 79
high level 80+

So each time we rune a skills week we have 5 trackers

skill one high/low
skill two high/low
and overall

so at the end we have 5 winners.
and the reward is great...
bragging rights
and each winner gets to pick a skill for the next skills week then we have a poll on our offsite forum and the two most popular skills become the next skills week.

yep - my clan is weirdly filled with older people who do not want to use other sites/ platforms. (I know why it's an older crowd, but it's the makeup of most of our members) so they hate going to other sites. I don't mind, but no matter what I provide- they just refuse to use it, lol. 23 200ms. hehe my current clan is called Elder Ones... I'm in the clf as a legacy leader from my old clan Zimmer Flames. So you can probs guess their average age. Yes most of them refuse to use twitter none have heard of reddit... tbf i hate reddit. some have facebook but most of them will use our own off site forum. they trust it as it is maintained by us and that is where we hold the polls and post links to the competition trackers etc.

tbh I couldn't run a clan without the use of an off site forum I find it vital especially as a clan is a 24 hour organisation and we all need to sleep.

you should check out

runeclan

for setting up competitions. Your members don't even need to visit the site. you can set it all up let your clan know and announce results at end. They don't ever have to visit the site unless they wish to check on their scores and see how far behind/infront they are of theirs friends.

EDIT: just realised bad time to check out runeclan... it always struggles during dxp.

Actually one thing that I would really like to see and a few clan members have been talking about it again recently is a

clan village

. Having max t citadel with dragon not really much to do there except basic upkeep.

Would be nice to have a space we could all put together and then work at customising the area to to show ours clans personality. I know jagex gets scared of things like poh or citadel improvements as they don't want to encourage players to retreat away from the game community but I think clan villages could be allowed visitors so maybe we could make our villages spectacular to show off to others!? or make them dark to scare ppl off.
