I (Think) I have remembered the 'little' idea I had the other night then forgot:

To link the number of bars required in the citadel to the locks on ore and charcoal.

I've not been responsible for doing build stuff up the citadel for a long time. We have the lovely Kristina for that but I do remember from when I used to do this it drove me mad. I'm sure you all know this (I've bought this up countless times on the clf for years. As in back when we first started to get rid of that muck we used to pick up to pay avatar)...

I digressed... I have a habit of that.

Anyway... Say we need 10k bars
you can set the lock on bars to 10k and that works fine.
The locks on the ore and charcoal though are about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Say you set both the locks to 10k also...

then 4 people come and cap.
2 ppl collect 2.5k ore each
1 person collects 2.5k charcoal
1 person makes 2.5k bars

So you have 2.5k bars 2.5k ore & 0 charcoal.

so the system thinks you require 7.5k bars 7.5k ore and 10k charcoal.

The problem with this is that as the bars get made the ore/charcoal never get filled
As you know bars can be stored but extra ore & charcoal is wasted. For a small caln like ours this can cause all sorts of problems. We used to get around it by locking bars at start of week and setting quantity locks on ore and charcoal. When we had what we needed could perm lock ore and charcoal and open bars. No need for cap on that as the amount of ores and charcoal we had seen to that. It did annoy some people who wanted smithing xp that it was locked at start of week but was a must to get t7 and a dragon.

As I said not a problem for me anymore but we don't do this for ourselves do we.

Thanks for sharing all the ideas with us, I really like some of them. Rest assured we're aware of the power of clans and the CM team echo's that every opportunity we have.

Just make me the Clan J-Mod already, pl0x. Thanks. ;)

I'm a little late to the party but I love this thread. People's passion for clans really shine through. I have a small suggestion also.

Clan noticeboard locations, for clan events taking place outside of RS:
> Add 'Discord'
> Add 'Off-site'

Never too late to join the party. All new suggestetions are always welcome and the more people taking part the better. Also these are just the sort of suggestions we need as they are small and simple so allows the jmods to show us a little love with minimum effort.

Clans are not as important as they once used to be with the rising popularity of discord. It is easier and easier to just organise everything with multiple clans, friends etc... in discords which suit your tastes.

If jagex should be targeting anything, it would be allowing us to join multiple friend chats at once (if that is even possible). The clan system is too concrete for the very casual playerbase that is RS, people would rather be able to join their favourite PVM'ing FC and skilling FC etc... those would be things I would like to see.

The clan system is fine as is and ultimately any updates thrown towards clans would be better suited towards other content as the clan system is so broken that a full rework is necessary. I think the majority of players would rather deal with the system as is and have some major quest content or a new skill or a nice new pvm encounter.

That is my 2c on this topic

Thank you Radyi yes. I think I accidentally got the title of this thread correct but got the question wrong. I've been playing rs for close to 15 years now and clans have changed so much in that time. Originally we didn't actually officially exist it was just a concept in an Fc.
Since the clan system was brought in 2007 ? 'ish things have as you say moved on so far.

So maybe it is time we did sit down and discus the question:

What are clans in 2021 ?

I expect there will be many answers as diverse as all of us players but maybe if we know what we are and who we are we can really see what we need!?

It would be really interesting to get a jmod perspective on this and that if we did come up with fundamentally different concepts of what clans are and how we needed the clan system do be structured would there be any interest from Jagex in a change in direction apropos this idea?

Are you listening Mod Peorkpie?

Was just reading through the Help section of forum as I need help.
Normally I'm the one that gives help but this has me stumped and no one in clan can answer...
or wiki.

While I was there I came across a thread called 'Non Toxic Discord' QFC 98-99-120-66072020
basically sounded like what Radyi was talking about a clan by another name. Really think it might be time to have that discussion about 'What are clans in 2021'?
Think it might actually be too big a thing to handle in here and is something that Jagex should actually approach in an official widespread manor.
