I am sad to say that a few days ago our clan lost a long term member and friend to suicide. He was a devoted Runescape player and in over 7 years of having him as a member of 2 different clans that I have led, he was never anything but helpful, friendly and polite. Sadly, he isolated himself after losing his girlfriend to illness, and did not seek help. He was only 20.

Vale, Christopher, you will be missed.

Sorry for your loss.

A few years ago I had the same situation in my clan. We made a forum topic about it on our clan forum where people could say their goodbyes.

I do also mention sometimes that clannies can always talk to me, if they struggle with something IRL. Some people in my clan do talk about private matters with me and I hope that helps them dealing with their IRL stuff and I do hope I wont have this situation again.

Mental health is important and I do find it nice that Jagex also gave attention to these matters in the past. I hope that all clan leaders are willing to talk to clannies when they struggle with something to help them even beyond this game.

Yea, this was a situation where he was a very happy person and happy in his relationship with his girlfriend. She died suddenly on the 4th March and he suicided on the 12th. So prior to this there were no mental health issues at all, and no one online was being unkind to him either. He did not log in during this period nor reach out to any of us through other channels.

He was very well liked, polite and helpful, and definitely an important part of our clan family. No one saw it coming. Big loss to the RS community.

It has caused distress to the clannies who knew him for a long time and we are taking care of each other. One clannie was a friend of his irl also.

Thank you all for your thoughts. It is a tough gig as a clan leader often.

I too am sorry for your loss. It can be hard loosing anyone to suicide even those we
have not met in real life.

I always tell my clan mates they can talk to me about anything. Game or Real life.
I am thier confidant and priest. Nothing comes back out of my mouth to hurt
or embarass them in any way.

I love my clan they are MY people. I would do anything feasible for them.

sometimes the world can be a hard cruel place and all of us are not equipped to
handle all the stress it can cause.

May everyone think of others during this world wide crisis. It may not be affecting
you but it may be affecting your neighbor or friend down the road.

Stay safe!!!

If I had someone I loved that loved me back just as much, I'd probably done the same, no matter how old we are... This reality sucks ass sometimes. In fact, it sucks ass and makes very little sense right now. All because of what?... Happenstance? Fate? Idk...

I have people I've loved and have left me, but they aren't dead so I keep going for them. I know somebody needs me in the world, they have before and possibly will again. But yeah, that's not an easy choice to make. It's actually pretty hard killing yourself - I get sad thinking about all the people who believed in me becoming somebody spectacular for some reason - and all it took to get where I am... If I waste myself - it won't be lightly, or it will be by the fate of life, or somebody for some diabolical reason takes me out before my time...

But kudos to him. I'd done the same thing. Love is stronger than death.
I hope they're together and get a better existence together than in this one.
