Hello,

my clan was wondering to host a "clan lottery". But the rules around player hosted gambles are quite strict as far as I've seen. We don't want to get into trouble for creating a fun event around that.

Does Jagex take serious actions against such lottery's that run as they should (no scamming whatsoever)? And the results (we were thinking of random number selection) would be controlled by 3 admins + random selected clan member, to avoid certain fraude.

So my question remains, are such events allowed if they are hosted as they should be. Fair n square.

Thanks in advance,
The Pandaa

I think the big highlight from that thread is something MattHe said on page 7:

Original message details are unavailable.
I, personally, would consider a "clan activity" fund that you pay into and then have random payouts from to clearly be a subscription lottery and I do not see a way of allowing it under the rule outlined.

Basically.....you can't do clan lotteries or raffles if they involve people paying into them one way or another. However, hosting weekly giveaways that you yourself are funding would be okay, I think .

I know several clans who do a lottery of the sort where people just cap at the citadel and the clan leader will draw a name and give out a bond. It's not any risk to the player, so I think those things are allowed. 23 200ms. Founder of Jamandy52 skilling clan. Favorite skill: Construction. Love skilling. Love minigames.

I did. The speculation above highlights That players pay into , mine didn't involve a pay into system, which is why suggest it might be allowed, versus a money collection required.

I could get into a whole academic debate over what money/currency is, but the bottom line is capping can be seen as a way of "paying into" something, so it's best to avoid requiring it for a clan lotto :)

The rule was made to prevent trust-trading, the huge amount of scaming and the invasion of flower game morons who forced Jagex to remove the random mechanics of several iconic items. Although I wouldn't say the rules should be changed as then we'd see those morons come back to create clans just for their gambling/scamming practices, but a clan lottery should simply be condoned. Jagex condoned breaking a lot of different rules as well (such as sending a link to your clan website and autotypers for clan wars). It's obvious nobody on these clan leader forums is here to scam people and everyone is mature enough to see right from wrong. Our clan members are introduced to gambling anyway (through TH and the sand casino), so I'd rather see it happen in the safe clan environment where there are leaders looking out for them.
