I recruited people from teams in game. We started it with 7 players 20. July 2006. The clan has been active and growing since then. Never wanted it to be big but it's been 270 or little less for a while.
Shared activities, shared interests, shared dreams... also teamwork, good team spirit kept us together. We ask only good manners, respectful friendly attitude towards each other and looking for intelligent mature members. No mandatory events but activity is appreciated.
A lot of pro and beginner PvMrs joined us through the years, a lot of warbanders for a while too. Also people who liked minigames, dungeon. Good bunch of skillers too, as we are hosting years of skilling contests, every month.
From forums I think I recruited max 5 players. Why so few? They were looking for a clan and to them, it didn't matter so much is it mine or some other. I described we got good team spirit but it was just a word to them, they didn't feel what I mean by that. When I said we got well-mannered community some stepped back right away, others found it out in a hard way that swearing and cursing are not allowed. But some said it's wonderful and they have been looking for a place like that.
Identity matters. If your clan has any kind of quality, don't hesitate to say it out loud and if needed put it into requirements.
Niceness matters. Always try to sort out difficult things without insulting each other. We keep focus on good teaming instead of lashing out and exploding over mistakes and bad luck. When people scream and shout nonsense, it gets very difficult to succeed at high-end PvM. Can't teach beginners with disturbing noise. So I keep the voice chats helpful and joyful and I really care about the culture.
Prepare to lose a few. Some people join activities in need of 1 kill or 100 kills or title or armour set but drop out as soon it's done. Running clan for 12 years - like mine, it depends a lot on the warm, fun, happy friendship and helpfulness between clan members.
