Can we please stop the reporting of threads you think are inappropriate for the CLF through the Flag A Concern thread? While I understand that the FaC does provide a venue for issues within the CLF itself I would much rather this kind of issue was raised in the existing thread than a post be made on the FaC.
May I ask why? Bringing such problems up on the thread in question is likely to derail it in most cases as the discussion steers away from the OP to the legitimacy of the thread placement. It may also cause tensions within the CLF community as some may appear to be trying to 'mod' the threads of others. I would have thought it would be better to flag such issues on the FaC thread to prevent the possibility of these things happening?
Exactly this.
The last thread I reported through Flag A Concern, I did make mention of the issue in the thread itself first, and I was met with negative responses from people telling me "It's only temporary," "This will help CLF," and "can't you just have some fun?" I knew where the thread should belong, because I had seen a nearly identical thread get locked and the OP asked to re-create it in a public forum. The thread was of course locked, but people were acting in an unkind way because I said it wasn't appropriate for CLF.
Flag A Concern allows people on this forum to report threads that are an issue without starting an argument over it.

When a post is made on Flag A Concern I will log in to look at it. Even when in the middle of a field in the English Countryside I have gone out of my way to check on a post on the FaC because it is present for serious issues, and they deserve my best attentions. Most do not need acting on immediately but checking on them is entirely sensible given some of the issues that have been flagged on that thread historically.
Recently there have been a whole series of posts on the FaC concerning CLF moderation, modding by appeal to JMod almost, where a small group of people have posted to the FaC about a thread they believe is off topic, inappropriate or they just don't like. Hence my post.
Mod Maz and I have had a chat and agreed that we will add a separate thread, again with hidden posts, for forum moderation. It should restrict the Flag a Concern thread to serious issues and mean that moderation does not drop under the wire. It will also reduce the friction posting in thread might have.
It should also be noted that we read just about every post in the CLF, and certainly look at every thread. There has not been a case in the last month, as an example, where someone reported a thread for what they thought should be moderation where we were not already aware of it.

Makes sense
This way you can check FaC and it won't be clogged with non-emergency type posts.

Reading this really satisfied my feeling of CLF being a strong community. Keep up the good work
