Quick question for anyone who might have any idea about computers:
Recently upgraded my computer (I'll tell the specs after) and I've been having an issue (it's happened 5 times now) where my computer will randomly freeze up with the display still on and it will make a really loud, horrible noise when it does so.
I can't figure out why or what; when I search it things come up with potentially a RAM issue - though using a RAM checker it didn't detect any issues. Another potential is the PSU, but it doesn't seem broken and has plenty of Watts getting through.
It's crashed on when doing the following: (There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it)
2x Crash on Fallout 4 (No sound from these crashes)
2x Crash on GTAV
1x Crash with just 2 Chrome tabs open
My specs:
I7-6700 @ 3.4Ghz (Quad core) CPU
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard
NVidia GTX780Ti Graphics card
750 Watt PSU (I believe it's a coolermaster but don't know which brand)
2x 8GB DDR4 RAM
Noctua NH-U12 CPU Fans/Heatsink (2 fans)
2 Case Fans
1x Samsung SSD 500GB
1x HDD 500GB
1x HDD 1TB
I/O Devices:
Razer Chroma Keyboard
Logitech G600 MMO Mouse
BENQ 24" 60Hz Monitor on DVI-D
Technika 19" 60Hz TV on HDMI
HyperX Cloud Headset
I've tried looking it up but can't find anything that doesn't relate to RAM or PSU - and I don't think it's a video card issue, since there's no display issue. On a final note, it's hard to check after altering anything if it worked because the crashes seem to happen at random times and not something I can "force".
[Sorry for the long post, I know it's a weird place to ask but I know you guys are helpful where you can be]
Side not: It's NOT overheating. I keep an eye on that and when it crashed on GTA the second time my CPU temps were around 50-60 Celsius. GPU around 70.

The last time that happened to me it was PSU on the way out and failing to deal with spike demands and/or returns. Brand new PSU and all sorted.

Alright Matthe, thanks. Was hoping not to spend more on my PC since the upgrade wasn't cheap, and then my headset broke so had to order one literally yesterday, but if something is about to break then I suppose I'd best repair it.

When you say a loud horrible noise... what kind of noise? Fans? Mechanical grinding/clicks? Beeps?

None of them really, just a loud sortof... fuzzy noise? It's hard to describe. I think it's more of an audio glitch as it freezes but it's really loud, oddly. I think the closest I can compare it to is static, but even then I'm not sure it's an accurate description of it.

That static noise is my brain still trying to understand what all those computer specs mean X)

Just stuff and things in respect to what components my computer is made up of. Just when shorting out tech issues it's best if they know what the components are to better help you, incase there's a specific problem that's well known or something - or, in the case of some games, to see where the game code might be stumbling.
