We have a lot of guests. Most are clan friends, allies or former members.
And I always try to find out who they are and what brought them into our CC.

RuneMetrics and RuneClan are great tools, but we also keep records on people of interest along with notes of our latest interaction with them.

Every so often, we get unidentified guests which I refer to as spies.
Most of the time I just ask Clanmates on our TS3 Server if they know them.
If nobody knows them, I pm the guests to try to get to know them. ;)

I was never against banning guests, occasionally trouble makers came along, in which I would simply mute the CC for a day or ban all guests for a day.

Personally, I don't see why you would have a problem with "leechers" all it does is make your clan look more active and provide bossing with your other members when their short a team. It was never a bad thing IMO....

Furthermore, it just meant you were a Clan FC, and clans that coexist as both are around, and they always seem to be doing well.

The only problem I have with the leechers are those who want to use our clan to go bossing, and learn how to boss. without any intention to join. This is the reason why people join our clan, if we allow people to just guest and have the same benefit as our members, whats the point in anyone joining?

We allow guests, as sadly we can't even add all our clan members to the clan chat. The only times guests can't join are during JCup wars and PKRI's. Outside of that everyone is welcome :)

Or you can just not teach them how to boss until they write an application? :P

I've met so many people that actually have no intention to join clans in general, because they see no point. Some I manage to convince, others prefer to be all solo....But where I'm going with this is: I've found it to be a blessing they are there at all. There are of course my preferences, but it beats nobody being around, and gives those that want to teach say PvM a focus.....

Because eventually, won't they run out of fresh meat to educate anyway?

We are not a PVM clan, although some PVM, and we allow guests and are really relaxed about it. We have quite a few who guest and don't want to join and that's fine with us. Some have been guesting for years, some come and go. It's all good.

We rarely have any problems, and if we do we handle it at the time, then it's over. We are fortunate in that we have a lot of people in cc who have the ability to kick, and there will always be someone on, therefore we can relax, because if something happens, it will be handled reasonably, so in the meantime, we relax.

I hear what you are saying about wishing people would join if they are using your clan member's skills and time. I suppose it's a balance as to whether the guests also make it easier for your members to find people to boss with.
