Clearing Clan Names

I have been involved in clan leaders community for about 3-4 years but I never got involved too deep until past four or five months. A lot of clan leaders have put in ideas for clan updates but it's not possible to do them due to the complex clan code.

Getting to the point.
We're trying to get a better clan name and most of them are taken by inactive clans. With one or two members who do not play anymore.

What's my point?
Is there a way to clear out those clan names? Kind of like how inactive play names are cleaned out?

If clan names are not cleaned out eventually all the new clans will have to come up with names that do not even make any sense, it will contain numbers and letters. All the inactive players who are possibly not coming back are just taking up opportunities from new players.

They did mention that they were going to clear out inactive clans a while back. There hasn't been any update on that for quite some time though. :(

While there is no way I would propose changing our clan name, and would actively oppose any suggestion to do so, I fully agree that a purge of dead clans, or at least their names, should be done every once in a while.

I get hugely frustrated signing up for something only to find that the name I want is already taken so I feel your pain here X Mr Jank. It was the same when I first signed up for RS but thankfully a few years later they did free up the name I wanted and I snapped it up :)

I would not mind keeping the clan name, but it was an inside joke that has been lost with members so either quit RuneScape or switch to Old School.

All the new admins have requested to change clan names.

Our clan is happy with its name, but a cleanup is in order. Here's what I'm thinking right now:

* Any clan that does not have 5 members in it
* Any clan where its members haven't logged in for 1 year @Lisaa_RS - Followed by @Runescape

Always in support of clearing clan names, why have inactive clans, seems a total waste of space

Sounds reasonable to me too.

It's been discussed before... Numerous times and the method is still debatable.
I recommend the following change:

At least 1 (owner) player to maintain a "Clan Name".
Why? Give them fair chance to return and/or 'rebuild'.

If a "clan" has only 1 (owner) player remaining, and is inactive over 1 year, then "delete"/remove said clan "owner" from clan, thereby clearing it up for use again.

If a "clan" has 1 (owner) player, and other inactive players, ALL of whom have not logged in for over a year, clean it up for use again as well.

This is simple, and easily automated. Clan:
