As stated elsewhere (ie discord)

"Right. We have the ability to direct edit a clan name in the live db but is a power held by a very small number of devs for obvious reasons. There are no tools or processes in place to remove inactive clan names and, while i would love to do an inactive clan sweep, i do not have time or resource personally to do so from a CM point of view, let alone the dev work required to put a full process in place - which is what would be required.

We would not do it on a forum process as this is requesting removal of names from other clans which is a very different thing from changes to ones own clan."

A few years ago, I was hesitant because I saw many Clans we historically remembered and wanted to honor so we didn't want them to lose their name.

And our Clan was one of the few that "reserved" their name before the release of the 2011 Clan Tools. But again, I have in times thought about if we reserved the wrong name.

Little story:
- My Clan was originally founded as "El Imperio Latino". Over time, the Clan was known by other names including Imperio Latino, Latin Empire and The Latin Empire. And I officially branded the Clan "El Imperio Latino" when our Founder left me the Clan in 2007, but we always used "IL" as our clan initials. And after I saw that movie called "The Social Network" where they mentioned how facebook used to be called thefacebook and one of its biggest changes was dropping "the" out of the name, I too considered maybe I should drop "El" from our name. But I can't. There is 1 Clan with the name "Imperio Latino" which isn't even ranked because it has 1 Member as the Owner.

Don't get me wrong. I fully support rebuilding and reviving Clans. I've seen many many Clans do it over the years. But idk... I feel like we missed something. Maybe I should've reserved other names. I can buy other Domain Names and have them forward to our main one, but we have no option to claim several Clan Names and have them forward to our Clan Chat.

I support the proposed suggestion to disband:
* Any clan that does not have 5 members in it
* Any clan where its members haven't logged in for 1 year

Our clan is happy with its name, but a cleanup is in order. Here's what I'm thinking right now:

* Any clan that does not have 5 members in it
* Any clan where its members haven't logged in for 1 year

I think this would be a fair way of doing it^

Sounds reasonable to me too.

It's been discussed before... Numerous times and the method is still debatable.
I recommend the following change:

At least 1 (owner) player to maintain a "Clan Name".
Why? Give them fair chance to return and/or 'rebuild'.

If a "clan" has only 1 (owner) player remaining, and is inactive over 1 year, then "delete"/remove said clan "owner" from clan, thereby clearing it up for use again.

If a "clan" has 1 (owner) player, and other inactive players, ALL of whom have not logged in for over a year, clean it up for use again as well.

This is simple, and easily automated.

Allowing inactive clans the opportunity to rebuild does seem fair. I support this option as reasonable in almost all cases.
