A lot of clans, like my own - consider their deputy owners to have an equal say, and equal share in their leadership decisions, even though the symbols are silver and not gold.

Co-Owner is the deputy rank though. Assuming the Owner has given all the permission a deputy can do everything an owner can (except they only have 2 daily kicks)

The best thing to do to ensure it goes to the right person, is to do as Rae says, and demote all those except the one taking over as owner. The new owner can then promote them back to deputy ( assuming that they want that ;) )
