Okay, so a little background behind our clan, Irlscape. It was basically just a group of friends that split off from a bigger clan because we didn't necessarily agree with all the policies being carried out. Our clan is more of a FC type feeling than a CC. We have been this way for several months... if not a couple years by now. Our leader, has been in on&off for the better part of the last year and it was just a group of us.
She came online and stated her irl situation has changed, granting her to be online a lot more. She asked us if we wanted to keep it with the more FC type feeling or if we should evolve and become an actual clan again. I am active where I would be able to assist in leading the clan which is always good and we do have coverage and willing to do the work. Not to mention, I do kinda miss the old fashioned clan feeling.
So here is the problem, I think the existing clan is split on these feelings. We are a close tight knit group, that i think fears the shear amount of work/effort needed to put in to start a rising clan. No, we do not want to merge with another clan because we do want to have our say in things going on. I would be doing about 80% of all the work needed. (I can do everything except recruit because I'm awful like that.)
I know there used to be a thread few weeks ago about "rebuild or refound" and this is one of those type threads. What do you guys think?
Honestly after stalking your clan info a bit, the only thing I imagine you may consider doing is recruiting more people. Other than that, do what you and your clan feels natural. You don't need to do anything you don't want to. You don't need to be Citadel-based, you don't need a huge roster, you don't need to do regular PvM events.
In short, I think it's best to just do what people want to do.

The question is... what do you want your clan to be?
Until you answer that, you don't know which direction to go, or what steps to take in that direction.
Only by talking it through with your current members can you find that answer.
There is nothing wrong with being a small, FC-like clan, if that's what people want. Clans don't need to be seen as a competition, but can be a way to provide a comfortable environment for members - unless you WANT to be competitive, the biggest, the meanest or whatever!
~~~~ Just another victim of the ambient morality ~~~~
I dont really see the problem with expanding a little, you can hvae say up to 50 members and itll still have the same feel, recruit very specifically to your clans needs.
But i would prepare yourself form having to do most of the work.
Try PM'ing individual clan members, I suggest private chat because asking openly in the CC can be a bit overwhelming in terms of votes, also, not everyone pays attention.
Anyway, ask what each member thinks, take a screenshot if necessary, and then host a meeting with the other clan staff to tally up the votes.
In terms of changing clan structure, the truth is, someone always gets the short end of the stick. Seeing as I went through several Rank System variations because of this, I can personally attest that
there may not be any good options in a choice like this, you simply choose the one that's least damaging.
All Clans are different. Some are more structured than others. What you typically find is that the older the Clan is and the more problems it has experienced, the more complex their documentation is. But if you break it down all you really need are rules, ranks and events.
The rules you already know because its basically a consensus of what you allow and don't allow on your Clan. If you wanted to get technical, you can add rights and duties. A right to a voice and a vote for example is not granted on all Clans to all of its Members.
The ranks you can wing for the most part based on what people already contribute to the Clan. From what I've seen, it looks like you already got a team of people that do their own stuff and you've already ranked them accordingly. Some Clans like mine also rank everyone as an Admin with Avatar Warden so they can enjoy the benefits of the Avatar given they're taking care of their Citadel. That may or may not work out for a Clan as yours, but keep in mind some kind of growth system for your New Members.
And the events you don't need to change. I find that the best way to recruit people is by finding those who enjoy the same things you're already doing. I'm sure you'll recruit some new friends when you open yourself to talking to strangers.
I think you're onto a good start. Growing a Clan organically with friends was our huge Community was founded. I wouldn't worry too much about the details. Just focus on having fun! Being completely honest with you, most people don't care about the details. They follow us Leaders because of the motivation we give them. That's it.
