Skilling Cup Procedures

1 - Make a brand new ironman account – DO NOT PLAY ON IT UNTIL THE WEEK’S COMPETITION STARTS
2 - Your clan representative must post a list of up to 10 ironman accounts competing for the clan BEFORE the game update on Monday. (The list may be posted several days in advance)
3 - Find out what the week’s skill is on the week’s Skilling Cup thread.
4 - Get as much xp as possible in the chosen skill over 6 hours. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PLAY ON THE ACCOUNT FOR OVER 6 HOURS.
5 - The clan with the highest average xp over its best 5 accounts wins the week’s Cup.

Rules for the PvP Cup

• The Clan Cup Rated Clan Wars options must be used. Note, this is a knockout mode – you cannot re-enter the arena once you have been killed.

• Fielding several players with very similar names is not allowed.
• Mass recruiting (need to work out some feasible guidelines for this)

• Matched = match your opponent’s numbers, but there is no need to match below 20 people
• Fullout = bring as many clannies as you can

• Default rules for terms that can be negotiated:
---- Default times will be set using the same table as previous years
---- Default day will be Saturday except in exceptional circumstances
---- Worlds: 66 for EOC P2P, 137 for EOC Legacy, 54 for EOC F2P, 33 for Legacy F2P
---- Best of 3 Wars is default

• Non-negotiable rules for P2P
---- Unrestricted
---- No summoning

• Non-negotiable rules for F2P
---- No corrupt gear
---- No summoning

• EoC and Legacy terms are self explanatory and are non-negotiable

Rules for the Skilling Cup

• No name changes
• If xp is gained on the ironman before the competition starts, the participant will be disqualified. Players may not begin to gain xp on the account until after the update timer on Mondays (Tuesday if bank holiday)
• Playing for over 6 hours will cause the result to be ignored. There is a grace time of 5 minutes; for every minute past the 6 hour mark, xp will be deducted on a straight line basis of using your average xp gains.

Rules for disputes

• Disputes will only be addressed when raised by a competitor. Do not expect the organisers to go out of their way to find rulebreakers otherwise.
• Disputes must be raised within 24 hours of the war for the PvP Cup, and by the following Sunday’s reset for PvM and Skilling Cups
• Evidence for the disputes must be provided by the accuser
• The clan against whom the dispute has been made will be asked to provide counter-evidence where necessary
• The dispute resolution will be handled by the players organising that specific Cup
• There may be ONE appeal before the decision regarding the dispute becomes final.
• Jagex may overturn a dispute resolution if they deem it necessary

ORGANISING THE CLAN CUP ORGANISERS

Positions:
• 1 Clan Cup chairman (may also hold another position)
• 1 PvP Cup head, with 4 other PvP organisers
• 1 PvM Cup head, with 4 other PvM organisers
• 1 Skilling Cup head, with 4 other Skilling organisers
• At least one techie will be needed to help track ironman xp gains and PvP Cup multiclanning

Responsibilities:
• Chairman keeps an eye on and coordinates all 3 sections of the Cup, while accomplishing the role of the other position they may have. Ideally someone experienced in resolving competition disputes as they'll be very involved in handling disputes for all 3 Cups.
• Each of the Cup sections’ heads host the threads for that section of the Cup
• Problems/disputes specific to a Cup are discussed among that Cup’s organisers and the Chairman
---- Votes pass by majority
---- Organisers may not vote on a dispute that involves their clan
---- After discussion of evidence, disputes should finish with 2 strawpoll votes. First, to ask if action is necessary or not. If action is necessary, a second strawpoll should be made to decide what action to take.

• Organisers also take care of other duties within their Cup’s activities e.g. surveying pvm cup videos
• Cup-wide issues are discussed by all organisers
• Organisers flaming each other or otherwise acting against the integrity of the Cup will be replaced

Communication:
• All organisers should join a Discord server so they can communicate at any time
• Discussions regarding the Cup and dispute resolution will be held on the Discord channel with different chats for each Cup
• Organisers should also be prepared to use voice chat on Discord, which can be much more effective for some discussions
• JMods should be welcome to join the Discord channel so they can monitor the organisers’ discussions if they wish

Threads to make:
• Centralised Clan Cup rules and procedures thread containing rules and procedures for all 3 Cups
• A dispute resolution thread where posts will be hidden asap
• Weekly threads for each of the 3 Cups detailing that week’s fixtures/challenges/skill, along with a reiteration of the rules
• Clan Cup registration thread
• Clan Cup Flagthread (Intro, FAQ and Q&A thread)
• Finals results thread

JMod involvement:
• Rewards
• Advertisement
• Checking that skilling Cup winners have not played over the time limit
• Voluntary observation of the Discord chat and the power to overturn dispute resolutions if necessary

Additional notes:
• Displaying only the top 10 clans for the PvM Cup for each week will cut a lot of video checking work. Check the scores of all the submissions quickly by skipping to the end of the vids and then watch the top 10 properly to ensure no cheating has occurred.
• Threads should planned and checked for mistakes, clarity etc before they are posted by several members of the organising team other than the thread host before they are posted

Also to answer a few points brought here...

RCW v Gamer's Grotto
Honestly, whether you prefer the RCW map or the gamer's grotto map is a matter of taste. For non-JCup wars, F2P have historically used centrebounds in the classic map and P2P have historically used turrets. However, that is a preference and the RCW map isn't really gamebreaking in at all. It's just different from what warrers are used to, but to any other player (and a lot of warrers themselves) the map is really just a minor issue gameplay-wise. The more annoying thing is that you can't spectate RCW wars.

With namechanges, it's unreasonable for us to try and keep track of every clan's memberlist so it is necessary that only official clanmates participate in the Cup. So for those hosting the Cup, RCW has the advantage of making sure all participants are in the same clan, which can save a lot of trouble over disputes about fielding outsiders. On the other hand, if we use the dispute procedure where the accusing clan has to present evidence to back up its accusation, it could be possible to use turrets as we wouldn't have to go dig up evidence ourselves.

1v1 PvM Cup and Duel-anywhere Cup
1v1 PvM would probably require much more monitoring than the organisers can feasibly manage - notably keep track of drops and having to be present to ensure no rules are being broken.

Duel anywhere is too loose a mechanic as anyone can run into the area and duel if they wish - I don't see any way in which it could be incorporated into a Clan Cup. Furthemore, I think the organisers will have their hands full with just the standard 3 Cups :P
