I'm soooo happy they let us know about this in advance on the CLF....

It was discussed a long time ago and even mentioned on livestream by Mod Kelpie in regards to him doing it as he said he didn't like the orts system.
But that never said what they were going to do about it, just that "he didn't like it." Plenty of Jmods don't like things, but that doesn't mean those things will get removed.

Not that i'm not happy with this but the fact that this hasn't been discussed on these forums says a lot.

In fairness, he didn't announce that they are going to be removed. He just said that they will be (and I've worded my post accordingly), and there's a significant difference.

Announcing means making it formal and official, and as a result people expect an update to be worked on and/or follow soon.

Saying 'Just gonna remove orts all together', however, as a comment in a simple reply as a result of someone asking to make orts be automatically collected, implies nothing apart from having the intentions to remove them eventually. It's planned, but when will they actually start working on it and when will it be released? We don't know.

This is why he didn't 'announce' it, in which case there obviously would be a post on the forums. It was just asked there and answered there, which would've been the same case here had he been available if it were asked here.

It surely can't be argued though that JMod activity is low on the RSOF in general. They don't regularly browse it casually (unlike Reddit) unless it's for a specific purpose or task. This is inevitable in my opinion due to how efficient it is as a result of the amount of player concentration and activity there (compared to here), and the ease of interaction, media demonstration, and direct and fast exchange of feedback (as with Twitter), with the most popular ideas/thoughts being very concentrated in one area and naturally rising to the top for the most attention.

Hopefully in the near future there will be a lot of updates and changes coming to the forums, after the closing of the forum feedback thread which definitely looked promising.

Thanks for posting this, Uplift :) I don't use Reddit and rely on the CLF for clan related information...

It would be useful to know a rough timescale for this - I have 30k+ orts in storage (and more in the bank :p ) so not much point in me collecting them any more. However, if any clannies have a smaller supply would be good to know if they should continue collecting.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's the first time that it has been "said," then that's an "announcement" for it too.

This is true but he's unable to make an announcement unless there's something concrete in place.

For example, saying 'Hey, just letting you know that I plan and intend to remove orts, but I don't know when and how' would create unnecessary anticipation (until there is something concrete).

It could probably not be a big clan update that warrants an announcement anyway as well and a simple patch (which we may well see soon in that case), similar to when orts were suddenly moved to virtual storage - just something we're likely to stumble upon in the patch notes as other things usually.
