I mean....we have been asking for the ability to just give it to someone as opposed to dismissing it so they can go summon it - So even as a bug/glitch that gave me a good chuckle

I hope this bug is the result of code accidentally filtering through into the actual game. Aka that this is currently in the works??

That could be the case where it somehow "leaked" to the game
That or she must've done a AoE ability and it affected the avatar, and the avatar thinking he got attacked is trying to retaliate by stalking her (and that's when the avatar code got bugged?)
I know you can attack avatar in wilderness not sure if it goes towards the attacker though
Were you two fighting monsters before this happened?
Edit: took a second look at your pic and I saw your inventory which confirms you have been fighting before this bug occurred, so my theory above is likely what happened your friend used AoE ability and bugged the avatar code.

This is not my pic by the way, was just scrolling through my Twitter feed and found it and was shocked, not sure how it could possibly happen.
This is in Mazcab near the entrance to Raids, so the poster wasn't necessarily fighting and looks to be just geared up for Raids. He's also in legacy mode on melee where you can't use any (AoE) ability.
I'm not sure about legacy combat though (can't use it at Raids) and that juju vial, along with having the avatar in the first place, which indicates that he was probably up to something else.
