Howdy :)

Just wanted to make a post about security and safety so everyone knows how to minimise the chance of being hacked or scammed

Keeping yourself secure:

-Virus scan your computer frequently, malwarebytes in particular is good for this (Free)
-Change your password every so often, don't choose things that are easy to guess in general
-Change your email account password every so often, again, don't choose something that is easy to guess
-Enable two step authentication on your email. Most email providers have an option for this in your emails account settings. This generally either requires them to text you a code to login (usually free), or they use the same authenticator app that RuneScape does (also free)
-Set up a bank pin for your account and set the delay to 7 days. I understand that it can be annoying to keep entering your pin every day, but for those few seconds it takes, it could save your bank in the long run
-Set up the RuneScape Authenticator for your account, even if you don't have a smartphone, you can use your computer that you play from to set it up

-Don't click links sent to you through emails that claim to be from Jagex. Most of the time, these are phishing websites which are designed to look like the genuine RuneScape website but they're actually fake
-Don't click links on other social media, such as giveaways on youtube/facebook and double xp/quitting streams on twitch. They may also try to phish your details
-Do not accept random files sent to you

~Jagex will NEVER contact you via your email to discuss your account status (bans/mutes/offences), threaten you with legal action (usually regarding RWT), invite you to be a player/forum/jagex mod/community helper/some other title or status

Jagex will only ever contact you via your message centre about the above^^

Be weary of scams that are going around as well

-Never drop your valuable items, not for any reason, don't try and anti-scam either as it usually ends badly for you
-Be careful that some items do not sell or buy for their GE guide price, do your research before investing lots of money in to something
-Always double check your trade windows, is it the correct item? is it the price you expected? does everything look right?
-Do not take anything to the wilderness/unsafe area(s) that you're not willing to lose
-Avoid trust trades at all costs, this usually requires trading someone something and then expecting something in return in a second trade. There's absolutely no guarantee they will give you what you wanted

I hope these tips help you guys to stay safe :)

If you need any help with setting anything up, feel free to message me in game!
