Introduction

Welcome to the w32 rocks clan forum thread! w32 rocks started on the 9th of April of 2011 as a shooting star mining clan based on world 32, but quickly grew to much more than that. Along with our tier 7 citadel, the combined knowledge of the clan members, both veteran and new, can provide an invaluable aid to players of all levels, as well as a friendly environment while you play :) .

To join as a guest, go to the clan tab (which can be accessed by passing the mouse over the community icon of the menu - the one with two people, one in green and the other in yellow - and choosing the yellow guy option) and click on the green button on the bottom-right corner and type "w32 rocks" to join. You can chat by typing /// before what you say. If you wish to become a clan member, just ask in chat and one of us will invite you to clan :) (do note you will have to leave your previous clan). In that case, you'll only need to type // to chat in clan.

This is the fourth version of our clan thread. The first was created by Pestilence 9, the second by Captain Kiwi and the third by Skylar8907, on which the present thread was based. Thanks all of you!

NOTE: if, by any reason, I stop being active, I give permission to Yanaaaa, Tigergal44 and Pestilence 9 to ask for this thread to be locked.

Rules

1.
RESPECT
: this rule is common to most clans, but we want to emphasize it. Basically, keep a peaceful and family-friendly chat and do not do anything that could be offensive for anyone else; in case you do it by mistake, simply apologize and move on (sometimes, people tend to keep arguing over it and it only gets worse). That's why we ask for no adult, political and religious talk in cc; we also tend to avoid pking conversations as it's controversial in cc and can lead to unwanted aggressive arguing.

2.
NO SWEARING
: we see this as a consequence of the first rule, and it includes abbreviations (we do not consider omg offensive though). If you are unsure, try to find another way of expressing yourself or ask in chat. Accidental offenders may be tolerated, repeat offenders will be dealt with.

3.
NO BEGGING
: this usually bothers other clan members and may attract leeches. Of course, if you need any advice on getting money or something else, we will be glad to help how we can :) .

4.
HELPING
: we do not force anyone to do stars, citadel or anything else, but we ask people to be helpful whenever possible. This helps to maintain a closer and friendlier clan community. Since we are a star clan, scoping and helping to hunt stars is especially welcome (particularly if you intend to mine the star), as well as helping at citadel (more information on citadel needs for the week in some posts); but simply calling for a penguin or a crystal tree you randomly found already is appreciated :) .

5.
STAR RULES
: all the above rules apply at star, but there are also star-specific rules:
- We do not do Wilderness stars as a clan (you are not prohibited to do it by yourself, of course).
- We do not reserve tags (more on this topic on following posts).

Introduction to stars

Originally written by Storm Tomato, thanks :) .

Finding Stars

When and where (approx.) a star will fall can be found out by looking in a Player Owned House (POH) telescope . The telescope is built in the Study Room. Depending on the type of telescope, it will give you an estimated impact time of next star in a time window of 24, 9, or 2 minutes (see below for more info). While it's only possible to know the area of next star by looking on a telescope, the exact time it will land can be seen on the D&D tracker , which can be accessed by clicking on the Adventures icon on the menu ribbon (the blue compass) or by clicking F3 and then choosing the Minigames tab.

Telescopes

There are three kinds of telescopes:
Wood (44 Construction) = estimated impact time 24 minutes
Teak (64 Construction) = estimated impact time 9 minutes
Mahogany (84 Construction) = estimated impact time 2 minutes
(these construction levels can be boosted)
Stars fall roughly every 2 hours. Every member world has a different star, random sizes and locations (more on size and location on later post). A star will last until another star falls somewhere else or until it is completely mined through.

Star Sizes

Star Fall randomly in sizes 1 through 9. As a star is mined it will blow up and get a size smaller. Size 1 requires a level 10 mining, Size 2 20 mining, and so on. You can find out how large the star is by Examining it or Prospect to see how far the layer has been mined. The bigger the size of the star, the more xp you will get per dust and less sd is needed to reach next layer (for example: 15 stardust is needed to mine from size 9 to size 8, giving 210 xp each; while there's 1200 stardust from size 1 to tubby, giving 14 xp each).

Rewards for Mining Stars

When you mine the Star you will get Stardust (sd) and, with it, mining xp - 200 Stardust is the maximum you can have at any given time (either in your inventory or in the bank). You will still continue getting mining experience after you get 200 sd. When the shooting star has been mined all the way to the middle then a Star Sprite will emerge (affectionately called Tubby). You offer the star sprite the stardust for a reward: 50,002 gp, 152 cosmics, 52 astrals, and 20 noted gold ore, currently worth about 125k gp in total (as of May 2017 – be aware that the price can vary with time). After star you will have a chance to mine 2 ores at once (and get twice the xp) for up to 15 minutes, which works with every rock, including runite and concentrated ores, just not with pure essence. It is mostly used at red sandstone for people with 81+ mining (so you can mine more than the usual daily limit). There’s no daily restriction to mining stars, but the tubby will only give you a reward for stardust once a day.

There's a special reward for the first person to touch the star, which is called tagging the star: instantly getting mining xp equal to 75 * (mining level). For example, if someone with 90 mining is the first to touch the star, this person will get 75 * 90 = 6750 mining xp. We do not allow tags to be reserved before the star has landed (whoever is the first to find the star gets it), but many of our clan's 99 miners are willing to give away their tags for someone who isn't maxed on mining yet.

Gems from Stars

Shooting Stars are a great source of uncut gems (up to diamond). Wearing a charged Glory Amulet and a charged Ring of Wealth will greatly improve your chances of getting gems. On big stars, it's usually worth taking a gem bag (the dungeoneering reward, which costs 2k tokens) to save up inventory space. Please note that Gem Finding Scrimshaws DO NOT work on stars.

The telescope tells on which of the general areas the next star will land. Each area has a number of spots where the star can land, always near a bank or mine. We only get to know which spot when the star lands. If you need help to reach any spot, you can ask in chat and we will be glad to help. If you'd like a video guide, search for "Skylar8907's guide to star locations" (video not accurate on the Uzer and Duel spots).

Citadel

March 2014- until we have something new to build.

The Citadel is maxed, Tier 7, there is nothing left in the build order. We are now working to keep what we have (upkeep) and to get the xp out of the Citadel that benefits us individually. Summoning (Minions) is compulsory and will help fill in any gaps if there is not an even resource spread. Otherwise get xp where you need it but keep an eye on the resources collected versus needed to make sure we do not end up neglecting any area.
Targets for every week are -
Weekly upkeep– Wood 7 090, Stone 2 600, Bars 3 920, P Bars 4 690, Cloth 8 060, Rations 8 920

Avatars are to collect

- Tree top to collect wood.
- Flame top to collect charcoal
- Water head to collect Rations
