I have been thinking about ranks for a long time. I wanted a Clan of equals but unfortunately it is time to admit that it is a utopia , for dreams, and is not working for several reasons. Among the reasons for not working are

1. Ghosts in Clan, who do what they need to do to get avatar warden / admin and that is the last we seriously hear their voices.

2. Some who do work hard for the atmosphere within the clan feel unrewarded as they are the same rank as those who do not even bother to say hello.

3. My policy of not demoting people has led to a very silent group of senior ranks - many of whom may have been in the Clan 4-5 years but stopped really talking in cc around eoc time.

4. The leaving without a word of 4 of our long term (5+ years) members. Second-hand report from 1 was that they only joined us to get 99 mining and with all Citadel skills at 99 we are now of no use. At times, on behalf of the Clan I feel used. Under the proposed new system time in Clan and / or previous service will not count for current rank.

Sooooo the following is a suggestion only for ranks. Comments & ideas are welcome. In changing the process and making a living rank system is going to take a lot more work. It also means that because I am not on 24/7 and because I actually want to play the game while I am on - then I am going to need some help - a rank committee if you want. As a side note I am finding the workload too much atm, so if anyone wishes to volunteer to take some of my chores off me it would be appreciated. So first call is for help with new ranking and other Clan work.

What I propose is that ranks go up and down as close to the 1st of each month as I can manage. If this proves too work intensive then it will be 2 or 3 monthly. The only account that does not change rank is W32 Rocks. It may be practical for people to apply for ranks rather than wait to be given.

Recruit - new to the Clan & accounts that have gained no xp in the last 2 months (ie not playing)

Sergeant - Have played in the last month.

General - played in the last 2 months and you are not a ghost, ie we have heard your voice.

Admin - (note because of Jagex coding this is the lowest rank that we can reward active members with Clan Avatar access). Have actively contributed towards the health of the Clan in the last 2 months ( get this rank and become a ghost then you are moved down), more than 1 category of
- saying a simple hi and/ or goodbye coming in or out
- work to maintain the Citadel
- positive chat in cc
- help others, answer their questions, make others feel part of the community
- be helpful, call penguins, evil trees, stars, priff voices etc.

Organiser - Working harder than the baseline for the good of the Clan Community. Too many ways you can pursue this to list all possibilities but would include
- Noticing people coming in & out & greeting them
- Looking after a group within the clan, being aware of what is going on, helping with
things and knowing when to pass information upwards (ie to me).
- being a catalyst for positive Clan talk / environment (yes I know this will be a subjective call)
- using your expertise in an area of the game to help develop others. Bossing is the most obvious area that comes to mind, but there will be others like the Clan's handful of
walking Wikis, leading gobie & peng runs. things people are just doing naturally now
and will be rewarded.

Co-ordinator - will be the highest rank in the Clan and will go to those with a specific job. Not all that work for the Clan have transparent jobs. There are some who have vital functions behind the scenes (and may not even notice themselves that I am leaning on them).

All of the above is I think a positive alternative but does have its disadvantages. The most serious being that it is not black and white, it is open to the judgement calls of the rank committee, and some maybe overlooked. Some may get upset that they do not have the rank they feel they deserve and many are going to be upset at being demoted - unfortunately such a small percentage of the Clan read fb and/ or the forum - so there is no way of getting the message through. Lastly we are going to go from the Clan almost managing its self to a bit of hard work :(
