What can i do to prepare for the Orthen digsite?

1.
Get your archeaology level at least 90 or as far above as you can.

2.
Make sure your basecamp in Anachronia is advanced as far as possible. It is possible you may need some of the material resources used for basecamp to make the workbench and materials store.

3.
Excavate Orthenglass. It will be used for repairing artefacts in the new digsite.

4.
Start "Desperate Measures" quest and complete it if you can. It looks like it will help with accessing some of the excavation sites, but the cosmic accumulator reward can give you more xp in everyday Archaeology as well.

5.
Make bank space! There are 22 new artefacts, and maybe new relic parts to store.

6.
Stock up on chronotes. Who knows there may be new unlocks in the shop. It is also possible you could use those for research in Anachronia to get materials and artefacts faster.

7.
Upgrade your materials box to make sure you can fit those extra materials without even more bank space!

8.
Make porters - you can never have too many for archeaology. Given Anachronia locations, you may not always be close to a materials bank.

9.
Make waterfiend familiars.

credit to MoraineSendai and DrGoliath for some of these suggestions

Suggestions for Archaeology updates

1. Pylon and rex roar count-down timer in icon (much like the aura or summoned familiar count down)

2. Archaeology Aura

3. Pylon Master and Roar Master titles for contributing 1000+ batteries or fragments

4. QuickChat related to Pylon and Rex Roar

5. Add cosmic accumulator to toolbelt

6. Make recipe fragments and lore drop from caches in Orthen digsite

7. Add something unique to Infernal Forge and Everlight to make it profitable for players to come back. KE has staff pieces, Stormguard has blueprint, Warforge has Spear, Orthen has recipes. How about a pet related to these areas.

8. Make the Orthen collector rewards more interesting.

Any other suggestions that would not break the xp/gp balance of Arch?

During DXP

"Base Precision is doubled, so you'll get double the projects per hour from excavation. You will not get double materials in that time though.

XP from excavation and screening activities is doubled.

Players will not receive Double XP from tomes, research, mysteries, pylons, or restoring artefacts."

As such, it is best to stick to the highest level possible, leave screening soil if you can, and only repair artefacts for which you get the materials so you progress the excavation spots.

Maximising mats

Excavating materials is still a good way to make GPs using the archaeology skill. At lvl 120, with cape and T&S mattock with all upgrades, and having cosmic accumulator in inventory, at Mosha in Ritual site of Orthen (lvl108 spot):-

1 artefact, 63 materials in 6min20 - i.e. 1 mat every 6.0s (AFK)
1 artefact, 73 materials in 5min14 - i.e. 1 mat every 4.3s (following the sprite).

As such, following the sprite works give you almost 1.4x as many materials (and GPs) per artefact. This is probably quite representative of other high level areas.

The rate at which you get materials is affected by your Mattock focus. The only other way to boost that rate is with one of the Material Manual, which provides you with a 20% boost for 20-30 minutes.

How long for recipe all pieces in Orthen?

I counted artefact pairs to get all 4 recipe pieces from each spot:

96 from Crypt (maybe i had one or two drop to the floor - this seems an odd one out)
36 from Outpost
12 from Outpots
20 from Xolo
31 from Xolo

So an average of around 25 artefact pairs assuming the first one was a fluke. That makes it around 4 hours per recipe piece. I estimate that makes the drop chance around 1:750 (per mat) for recipe pieces.
