It's pretty simple to me. The ability exists so the game knows you want to use abilities without a shield, and when you do so, you pay the rune cost accordingly. Remove the experience when toggle on the shield so players don't spam toggle on and off to train, and make them free to toggle.

That makes sense to me but is there even a reason to ever turn it off. May as well have it as a free toggle on the well of souls or even an extra perk on the capes at a bank if anyone knows a reason to need it turned off.

I just see it as useless clutter on the new spell book that's too easy to mis click.

Two reasons to turn off whatever bone shield you have active:

-To not be able to activate defensives by misclicking if you have a bone shield active, but you won't be able to if you don't have the runes so I don't think this is really a big thing.

-To switch to the other type of boneshield (not every defensive is affected by shield level so sometimes it's cheaper to use lesser boneshield). Everytime you want to switch boneshield type, you have to pay the cost of the shield you are switching to.

I agree that it doesn't need to be an incantation, but if this is the best way they can find to implement the bone shields, then making it free would solve the main issue.
