How I got my skill pet:

I didn't. :(

Yeah, that. :P

I've been out of town so haven't had too much time, but since the skill pets came out I've run through all 60 dungeoneering floors twice, no pet. I'm starting my third run-through now that I'm back from vacation. I'm not hopeful. :(

I'm doing smalls, complexity 6, and rushing through (all doors opened, killing only what I have to for guardian doors).

From what I have read I got really lucky. It is my understanding that pets are based on xp drops. I got Willow converting Incandescent memories into energy. I got it while converting into energy, not from harvesting wisps. I got maybe 50k xp (not including caches) from update til pet. Level 100 Div.

Gathering pets aren't based around experience Production ones are.

Additional- gained 2,260,474 exp past 200m (Runemetrics confirmed) exp was wearing fury shark outfit (non consume)

Incase anyone is wondering.
You get a green message that says:
"While Skilling, you find -insert pet's name- pet. It has been added to your inventory."

There are also fireworks, just like if you level a skill.

Exactly what you were doing: Cooking sharks on a portable range
