Effects for Veteran capes

Hello jagex,

I wonder if it is a good idea to Set beneficial effects on veteran capes so they are not only used for cosmetic aspects.

In my opinion there could be effects like small xp bonuses, beneficial pvm effects like stat boosts or a double loot chance for 15/20 years or Other effects.

What exactly have you accomplished that deserves a double loot chance by having created an account in 2002 and left it be - that's an hero item effect.

Those things have stats - enough stats to be ranked 2, 3, 4 and 5 in f2p respectively - with rank 1 being a discontinued MTX cape. That's more than enough to be fair. Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2

I agree that the Stats are good for f2p, but in comparison in p2p there are better capes wich Take not as much time to get than a vereran cape. A zuk cape for example takes a flawless run. Even the New Master capes take way less time to get than being 15/20 years in runescape. The Veteran capes are only a cosmetic override and have no Real usage in p2p. And to be honest, most of the veterans are playing on member Worlds.

So i thought it would be interesting what Other people think about that topic

Just be happy that you get stats on something that really only meant for looks.

I mean they removed stats from holiday items so IMO they should as well from vet capes.

Many p2p capes have beneficial effects. The max/comp/Master capes have higher Stats and give the possibility to Use three skill effects plus unlimited teleports. The zuk cape changes a skill to a overpowered Version. Even a 99 skill cape has a beneficial effect on it but what does a Veteran cape have on it?
Well, the double drop example Was just an example. The beneficial effect doesnt have to be overpowered but it should have a good usage not just for f2p and not just for being a cosmetic item because getting these capes is seriously a higher achievement than all the other capes. Especially the 15/20 year capes.

Dont understand me wrong, this is just my opinion.

Having created an account 5/10/15/20 years ago is no accomplishment - that's why you're getting better capes for quests, for achievement diaries, for pvm challenges, for reaching level milestones and rarely even as drops - to be fair it's actually an issue, that those things are the sole proper capes you can even get in f2p by now - and you have to wait five years for that, if you were to create your account today.

Should we strip the capes of their stats for this reason - actually no, since they're at least theoretically obtainable and they wouldn't undermine any actual milestone no matter how it looks like as they currently stand . But that doesn't mean we should make this issue even worse. See it like this - in 5 years your 25 year cape will be even slightly better giving you even more of an headstart in p2p if you're pulling out your unplayed account from 2002. Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2
