An option for me to toggle what state of growth other people's legendary pets appears to me and me alone would solve this problem without affecting any other player or the player with the pet in any way shape or form. I have never and will never purchase a pet like this, but that doesn't seem to be changing anything.

1. Look, I get it, you don't personally care about whether others see your stuff or not, and that's fine, but there are people who do care whether their stuff is shown to everyone around them or not; otherwise Jagex wouldn't have made cosmetics that draw more attention, since their aim with MTX is to sell it as much as possible. To say that those people wouldn't be affected by a toggle like that is false; it influenced their purchasing decision, without which they might not have made the purchase (for some it was crucial, others saw it as a plus).

2. I don't think you understood what I meant by voting with your wallet here, so to clarify: since you're still a paying member (and a premier member to boot), in Jagex's eyes, despite your complaints about the pets, you're still fine with them. Otherwise, you wouldn't have renewed your subscription, let alone paid for a year's worth in advance, because the trolls at portables are hardly a new thing, so you've had the opportunity to vote with your wallet like that already, but did not. And since you did not, because there are people paying money for those cosmetics, in Jagex's eyes it's the best move for them to not add a toggle, since they get your money already without it, and they can get even more money from new cosmetic purchases.

3. A small addition to #2, even though you now say "I never have and never will buy this stuff", in Jagex's eyes, they think they'll be able to change that in the future, to still be able to persuade you into buying them. It's the same reason why non-ironmen can't opt-out from TH, despite wanting to.

I really wonder at what age people do care about whether their stuff is shown to everyone around them or not.
Everything, ranging from sub-atomic particles to galaxy clusters, has its dynamics predefined. And then there are people claiming that systems like economy, society or other human sub-systems are in our hands.

So what it appears to me that you are saying is that i should quit the game i have been playing for 15 years if i don't like giant flapping drakes taking up 30% of my screen and if i don't/am not willing to quit i shouldn't ask for changes to be made to things i don't like? you are a ridiculous person for thinking that.

let's try to apply the logic you are using in your post on #1 to something else.

when mutated barge was released you could kill people in safe pvp with it and it would send them to death's office if it dealt enough damage. this was an unintended consequence of the un-clearable bleed it inflicted that resulted in it adversely affecting players. however, it also caused to people buy mutated barge for the sole purpose of griefing people with it, in fact i even know someone who spent real world money on bonds just to do this very thing. so if we apply your line of reasoning then it follows that this unintended consequence shouldn't have been fixed because it was moving a market and increasing bond sales and the people affected by it should have just quit the game to show displeasure over it.

If it makes you feel better, by all means call it ridiculous, but it doesn't change the facts: only money talks to Jagex nowadays, so if you truly mind something, you have to talk with your wallet and explain with words why you did what you did with your wallet. I don't like it either, but unless you want to keep complaining over and over with nothing changing, you have to change something.

Even ceasing to buy premier club and instead paying monthly would make Jagex more alert and worried about losing your membership money, since you could quit a lot faster than having to wait an entire year. But when people buy premier club, Jagex can just slack for the majority of the year and then worry about your renewal only when it's time to buy premier club again next year.

I don't do PvP, so please excuse my lack of knowledge on it, but from what you just described, it sounds to me like it was a bug, not "an unintended consequence". Being able to summon pets and have them hang around you at portables isn't a bug, it's very much intended to be possible. Whether your intent is to troll people or not is what comes after that fact; you can't prevent it without also harming those who don't troll people.

So all in all, that comparison is unfair because you're comparing two too different things, where they don't even belong to the same category.

You're right, they only care about money. which is why they probably wouldn't be sad to see me go considering i don't really drop any money (real or game) on MTX. still, expecting people to throw away thousands of hours instead of asking for minor changes is absolutely comical.

to your second post, no it really wasn't a bug which is why i was very careful not to call it such. everything was working exactly as intended. you call it a false equivalence, but it isn't. peoples giant flapping drakes get people killed in combat all the time which is why they are universally reviled by pvmers. giant flapping drakes taking up 25+% of someones screen or causing people to lag while they're trying to intercept, heal other, tank, etc gets people killed it also doesn't help to not be able to see whats happening on your screen because a giant flapping drake is covering it which is roughly as deadly as getting barge comboed.

RS3 wouldn't survive if enough many people like you stopped paying for their membership, just saying. Membership monetization is aimed at everyone, while MTX is aimed at the people who can afford it and are willing to buy it, so it severely limits its audience. And when you have such a small audience, they're gonna get bored when there aren't people to show their stuff at, besides those who also have the same stuff. The problem here is that you think you don't matter, but there are so many others who feel the same way, so you could make a difference if you cared enough to do it. :P

But whatever, it's your choice, least I tried to tell you. I guess we'll continue seeing each other here in the future.

Well then either you failed to communicate something in that comparison or I'm missing something due to my lack of understanding PvP; whatever the case, I guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree, unless you want to try another comparison or try to explain that one again so that I get it. :P

*snip for the drakes in combat part*

This has to be the first time I'm hearing someone claim that drakes cause people to get killed; where would it even happen? Only place I could imagine is endgame group bosses, but there you could just kick the people who bring a pet you don't want?

#1
I'm not a throw the baby out with the bathwater kind of person. instead of trying to bankrupt the company over a change i would like enacted i think the result can be achieved without stooping to the mindset of a child throwing a tantrum, and instead just asking for what i want and providing reasons for it.

#2
the bleed was unclearable, so when the fight ends and it clears all the bleeds and heals you, it couldn't clear the bleed that was specifically designed to not be cleared. this took months for a work around to be implemented because of this.

#3
I'm guessing you don't do much combat then? I can give an example from my own personal experience. i have a friend i was trying to help get a perfect chitin for his t90 defender a while back. he insisted on using his legendary pet for the ring of life effect. every time i tried to heal him when i provoked for the green attack his stupid dragon would wind up getting in the way of my heal other and i would misclick it, once this even caused me to walk under KK when i tried to heal other a second time, which made my reso timer run out, which i don't remember if it signed me or killed me, but that isn't relevant.

let me paint a picture for you. you're staring down the fists of a giant monster, all of a sudden a huge dragon gets right in your face. you cant do anything about the dragon. the monster with the huge fists winds up for a big ole punch, but you don't know because this huge dragon refuses to move out of your line of sight. what do?!?

but really, the only reason someone would actually be against this change is because they like to purposely annoy people with the pet.

Makes you wonder.. if they have such a small audience that relies on making things visible to sell, I wonder if the player base is decreasing because nobody complaining about obstructing visuals are being catered to.

If Jagex catered to the players, they might have a larger player base! Like they use to! Shocker how only catering to a wallet is making their sales decrease.
