its pretty simple, people keep asking jagex to stop adding currencies but jagex wants to make money.
in order to make both parties "happy" jagex is removing currency after the event ends thus freeing space up and also making a way for jagex to make more money.
Right! Yak Track is actually the Season Pass monetization method a lot of AAA games embrace now. RS3 players and Jagex made one for them. What makes it even better is other games' "Yak Track" cost real money to play the RS3 Yak Tracks come free with Gold Premier Club subscription.
As with other games' Season Pass, the in-event currency doesn't carry over to a new season.
What does the corporate boot taste like down there? Is it leathery or more metally like?
95% of those other AAA games are free to play, or one time purchases, no subscription fee on top of 5 other MTX methods to reel the whales in. Maybe you dont remember, but when Yak track was only a plan on paper, jagex said that if/when they add their own battle pass to rs, there would be decline in other MTX promotions...well that was !&%# lie lmao! They have done completely opposite by releasing pretty regulary new FOMO events that drive the bond prices up and directly make buying game gold more lucrative than ever.
I also know from first hand experience that atleast 3 f2p games with healthy sized playerbase actually give their equilevant of battle pass for free if you get to certain level. So if you play enough in the time period you only pay money once for the initial pass. Jagex wouldnt do that in a thousand years.
They are removing Yak coins simply to boost sales of skip tokens when new yak track starts. Cant use coins of past event...it had nothing you want to buy? Tough luck, you cant use those coins on a yak track that has something you want unless you grind again or pay to skip. Disgusting.
