I agree, this should definitely be a priority. At some point they'll probably update more NPC models just as they have slowly done over the past couple of years.

Honestly I would love an opportunity to toggle between different graphics styles. Im sure alot of people love it, but most of the new NPCs just dont feel like Runescape anymore. I avoid the wizards tower at all costs now because it just bums me out. Obviously if I wanted old graphics I could play old school so thats not what I mean, I just wish I could step back an update or two with some of those characters. I like the NPCs that still feel like the current player model. Thats Runescape for me
Question is what is Runescape supposed to look like - is it RSC-esque sprites, are it 2004 models, are it 2007 models, are it models from the early HD era up to 2011, the late HD era up to circa 2014 - or basically what we have ever since then - only with more and more refinements over the course of years. With the exception of RSC things we basically have everything still in the game - and they're certainly repeatingly updating 'newer' things than the ultra old ones - otherwise at least the 2004 and 2007 things would have gone extinct by now. One of the game jam projects was updating the varrock sewers with unused assets from 2013 or so - certainly not ideal, but certainly better than this early HD look.
OS has some mix of 2004, 2007 (which certainly was used for the first few years for new things as well) and its own distinct style, which they basically only use for new content, since old areas and its inhabitants have to look and feel like crap, since it's 'iconic' for certain devs and players.
Can't say I like every new model they're using, but at least they're trying to get some consistent art style for once.
