2 rings - one each hand. Maybe not allow 2 of the same ring to be equipped though..I mean do we really need another +16str from zerker ring(i)s? Seems like a little over kill.

edit: Toe rings too!? Or what about tongue rings =o

Wearing 10 rings would be pretty beastly. Hmmm, 10 Rings of Wealth...*drools*.
Just kidding. ;) I think two rings, but of a different type would be sufficient. (I.E. - 1 Non-Combat ring and 1 Combat ring.)
:P

20 beserker(i) pl0xxzorsssss
(10 fingers and 10 toes ^^)
On a more serious note...
Perhaps we should be able to combine rings instead e.g. combining a wealth, ring of life and a combat stat ring. Maybe less code would have to be written than having to introduce a new ring slot.

Alabaz and others:
There are several really good reasons that Runescape should support multiple rings.
Your thread topic only brings this to the fore (assuming it hasn't been already).
Performing slayer tasks is perhaps the best rationale for support for wearing of multiple rings.
With the update of the new Slayer area operated by Kuradal, the urgency for support of wearing multiple rings is even greater.
When performing a slayer task in the Kuradal's area, one simply MUST use the ferocious ring, if one has it because of the +4 hit bonus. But in addition, the need to carry a slayer ring to be able to keep tabs on the number of monsters left to slay is important to many. Add to that the need to readily bank, then I can see support of at least THREE rings: The ferocious ring, the slayer ring for keeping track, and a castlewars ring for ease of banking.
The present state of affairs would require us to use two inventory slots for two of the three rings, which needlessly interrupts the slayer task too frequently to bank if one wishes to keep all or most drops. For those who argue that a summoning creature can be used to carry the additional load, I would make the counter-argument that in the Kuradal slayer area, nearly all of those slayer monsters requires one to use either a bunyip or unicorn to stay healthy for any reasonable length of time (e.g. heck-hounds--dont wanna say the other word :) , gargoyles, greater demons) as many of the creatures take constant health hits from you.
In addition, if one were to use mage in the Kuradal area, one could argue for four rings so that the ring this gives +1 mage bonus (forget its name atm) would be of use as well. Because of the many ways that one could devise to take advantage of different ring features in performing slayer tasks, one could think of even more reasons (and rings) that could be worn.
