A brief spark of data is exchanged, and the location of Admiral Anderson's ship is now known to the second speaker, along with all other relevant information about every other ship in the fleet, including their weaponry, defences, physical composition and crew: some of the information was gathered from Singapore’s systems, and some from more… direct sources.

Excellent work. Divine Lord Magery has instructed us to find him a distraction, and I think we have one to present to him here. A proxy war is the best kind of war, after all. Well, I’m sure he would say it’s the second-best kind of war after total war, but some of us aren’t immortal, nigh-unkillable gods. Continue with your observations, Lieutenant; you know what to do.

Once again, almost no time passes, and then the second speaker—the Commander—returns to the conversation, picking up where they left off.

We have our orders. Maintain surveillance throughout Singapore, and send four others into the Tanician ships’ systems: I want to see everything they see and know everything they know, so we can anticipate accordingly. Try not to get caught.

OOG: For the purposes of the next part, I am assuming that a SADIST-class AI can infiltrate Tanicia’s cyber systems without being stopped or detected – as, from what I can tell, Tanicia has yet to even construct their own AI, I don’t think this is too much of a stretch given the technological disparity. I have also assumed that, given the speed an AI can think and act at, and the instantaneous communication speed of a QEC, that the entire exchange above having taken less than one minute is entirely reasonable.

REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, ONE MINUTE AFTER TANICIA’S TRANSMISSION

Johnathon Ng sits in his office, fingers idly rapping against the wood of his desk, a relic passed down from President to President ever since Singapore had had a President. Though he is angry—furious, even—the only sign is the fast tempo he drums into the expensive mahogany, as if he is trying to shatter it under his fingers. He does not want Singapore to lose its sovereignty to some newly-expanding nation, but he does not possess the resources to fight back – not without losing far too many people to make it worthwhile.

Suddenly, he jerks his head up at a polite cough from the centre of his room; his eyes are met with a woman dressed in what he assumes to be a Tanician military uniform, her rank yet unknown. She is tall yet not towering, and carries herself with almost-arrogant rigidity.

“President Ng,” she says before he can speak. “There are some of us in Tanicia who disagree with the Republic’s decision to assimilate your nation. In fact, there are some of us in Tanicia who disagree with the Republic . We have been waiting for an opportunity to strike at the current establishment, and this pseudo-invasion has provided us with the perfect opportunity.

We can provide you with ships—both space-faring and naval—as well as extra soldiers, Tanician-level technology and anything else (within reason) that you may need to fight off the Republic, including military commanders with a fundamental knowledge of Tanician combat doctrine and more combat experience than most of your own.”

For a moment, he sits there in stunned silence, and then his mind drops back into gear, thoughts spinning furiously.

“Are you serious, Ms…?”

“Supreme Commander Jane Nyra Shepard, fifth Separatist Insurgency Division,” she says immediately, as if she had expected the question. “If you don’t believe me, and thus those I represent, I can provide you with a short demonstration. Look out your window.”

He turns, half-expecting to be assassinated when his back is turned, even though he knows if she wanted him dead, he no doubt would be already, only to see a series of shimmers as a line of advanced-looking vehicles bristling with weapons appear outside – they have his office surrounded, but fade away as quickly as they appeared.

“There are many more where those came from, as well as numerous other air, sea and space-craft. Tanicia is a country in inner turmoil, President; in many ways, this expansion is an attempt to restore confidence in the government by proving the Republic’s superiority over a vastly lesser foe – no offence intended. By foiling this initial invasion, Tanicia will be plunged into civil war, and the Republic will no longer have the time nor the resources to continue threatening you.”

She pauses, and then continues.

“You do not have to do anything, President, apart from allow us permission to work alongside you. We will handle the rest.”

He sits, contemplating his options. Allow his nation to roll over without a fight, or trust an unknown ally who conveniently appears just in Singapore’s hour of need.
For a man as patriotic as he, there is really no choice at all.

“In the name of the Republic of Singapore, I accept your assistance.”

Her smile is broad but dangerous.

“Thank you, President. We will begin preparations immediately. Feel free to contact Admiral Anderson again and tell him the negotiations are off. We’ll be sure to add some ‘oomph’ to your reply.”

UNKNOWN LOCATION, UNKNOWN TIME

Launch the Scions. Simulate half of one Tanician space fleet, one Tanician naval fleet, and prepare to simulate whatever ground vehicles may be required, based on previous scans of the true fleet’s inventories.

Transport the space fleet to within optimal combat distance—based on Tanician specifications—and hold position, and launch the naval fleet from Singapore’s naval bases (replace Singaporian ships with Scions that look identical to the Singaporian ships using Trickster, and then morph them into Tanician ships once they launch as if they are shedding thermo-optic camouflage) and hold position within Singaporian waters, but out of range of the Tanician ships.

Deactivate simulated Tanician IFFs, and prepare to engage targets with simulated Tanician weaponry.

Let’s see what they do with that.

Suddenly, in orbit above Singapore, a fleet almost identical to the Tanician one already there appears; though the ships appear of Tanician make and design, they do not seem to be related to the military at all, and identify themselves on combat telemetry as part of the Aylss Independence Fleet. Furthermore, a fleet of Singaporian ships launch from the nation’s naval ports, only to shed some form of thermo-optic camouflage and reveal themselves to be of seemingly Tanician construction – this group identifies itself as the Kyron Liberation Fleet.

Still wondering what’s going on, Admiral Anderson receives a transmission from President Ng, brave words tinged by a veneer of almost-undetectable tension and nerves.

“Admiral, on second thoughts, you may keep your diplomatic party. And you can keep your invasion, too. Though I’m not sure how much longer you’ll have it for.”

The feed cuts out, and is immediately replaced by the image of an imposing woman in a modified Tanician military uniform. She stands like the blade of a sword, tall and edged with danger, her voice harsh and cold; behind her, the bridge of a ship much like the Admiral’s can be seen.

“I am Supreme Commander Jane Nyra Shepard of the Separatist Insurgency Division. In the name of the oppressed, the broken, and the damned, we declare war on the Republic of Tanicia!”

When the feed dies, the SADIST—whose real rank is that of a Commander in the true SID, the Sparkadian Intelligence Division—grins.

OOG:

Scions are the TGE's main line of multi-purpose assault vehicles. Due to their construction, they have full morphic capabilities, and can shift their forms to resemble anything they possess the nescessary mass to simulate (though, with their on-board Matter-to-Energy generators, even that is not really a limitation), such as the Tanician craft they are resembling (though, in the case of the larger Tanician space ships, multiple Scions integrated together to make the process simpler).

This is how the space and naval fleets (as well as ground vehicles) are being simulated: using the Scion's morphic capabilities to literally turn into the Tanician constructs.

Though they are still armed with TGE-level weaponry, they are only displaying and using weaponry Tanician has (based on the scans the Scions, Wraiths, and SADISTs conducted), such as railguns and plasma weaponry, and, due to their morphic nature, they can fire these weapons at Tanician-level strength rather than TGE-level strength, so the battle will be completely technologically equal (for the most part). Furthermore, they are using the Aegis to simulate the make-up and strength of the standard Tanician shielding.

That should be all the information nescessary for now.

Yeah, hopefully it will be =D A proxy war to mix your conquest up a little, make it a little harder than complete capitulation - though, of course, I'm not trying to deny you Singapore, you will get it in the end.

Also, if you want an easier place to discuss things in between (and about) posting, I'll be sitting in the NC Wiki chat for the next five or six hours, most likely =P
