Before Guthix discovered Gielinor, an ancient god Malia brought ducks, dogs and other animals to Gielinor. To celebrate the arival the animals, still speaking the same language, decided to build a monument for their god. At the early stages of construction the mice started to complain on the construction Xp they were getting, dogs complained about the cost of planks and duck weren't happy that there weren't any afk methods of building the monument. After a week the god Malia couldn't cope with the complaints and went mad. As his final act he made it so that no animal could understand each other. The dogs only barked and the ducks quacked.
