I REMEMBER SUN SIOUX I AM PRETTY SURE S/HE(?) MADE A CUSTOM SIGGY FOR ME A FEW YEARS AGO, or maybe it was someone else, but I DEFINITELY REMEMBER GRATITUDE TOWARD SUN SIOUX.
And thank you guys for the thread!!
I didn't know that alignments (left, center, right) were how some people got their pretty creative siggies.
Also, how do you guys link to specific posts? I couldn't find that anywhere on the forums wiki, nor on any thread about forums, and I really appreciated how you guys mentioned cool tricks/how to's that aren't obvious or not mentioned elsewhere.
P.S.
Changed my siggy from
V • I • V
.I • • • I.
V • I • V
to
V • I • V
.
I • • • I
V • I • V
--thanks to the insight regarding the color black!
(Soft hyphens didn't work since there was nothing preceding the soft hyphen). Now I wonder if anyone has any secret messages in their siggies....

There's a couple of ways of doing this. You can get the link to a specific post by either:
1. Taking the quote id after quoting a post
2. Copy the end of the URL after clicking on the highlight button
Then you put it into the
qfc id
tag which is the button with the QFC along the top of the reply box. It works like this:
r
[qfc id=
QUICK FIND CODE NUMBERS
]
CUSTOM TEXT HERE
[/qfc]
r
Blue text
is the text that will appear when you click the button
Gold text
is where you put the post's individual Quick Find Code
Green text
is where you put the text to what you want to be linked.
For example, if I take your signature I could link the entire signature: (hover over/ click it!)
The middle button had turned orange because the colour tags are outside of the QFC tag. Although if you wanted the middle dot to be the same colour you simply add the
You can start wherever you like for your wave! Just imagine a pattern in your head or perhaps draw one out; then see which characters you can use to make the pattern come to life!
The All character wave contains most of the characters you would need for making a signature. It's useful to have it to one side so that you can copy + paste characters without the need to remember the alt codes for them. It's in a wave so that you get a rough idea on the height of each character on a line.
It's all trial and error, but give it a go and see what you can make! Once you get started just keep going until you have something that you like, but don't be disheartened if you can't seem to get it right as it requires plenty of patience. Just keep practising and you'll do very well eventually!
That makes so much sense, also I didn't know that you could change the color of links!! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my post so thoroughly and thoughtfully, I tremendously appreciate it <3
Lol sorry if this is too much to ask for--I do truly appreciate your collaboration in creating this pertinent and useful thread--but on the list of colors on page 3, where the colors are grouped by family (AND are ordered in a gradient!!)--
- Is it possible to make the color name in the color of its label? The bullet points are cute, but they're very small swatches and I'm not as adept at figuring out what it would look like in text.
- And is it possible to have everything in one post, for quick reference? You both have beautifully distracting signatures

Hmm I don't see why not
Will speak to Ruby about it though I do wonder why we didn't do that in the first place

Sadly we can only have 2,000 characters per post, and this guide eats up its fair share of characters in each post! It would be nice if we could disable the automatic signature feature for certain posts though
The colored bullet points /are/ cute, just not the most useful for me at least to use, lol. And thanks for considering it; I would greatly appreciate it!!
Ah yeah true, I forgot about the 2,000 char post. I've hit it only once thus far, since the person I quoted had a lengthy post, but otherwise I wasn't using any formatting. Since I had no formatting, I was surprised at how restricting the limit was, but it is there for good reason.
That's a good idea; it'd be interesting if we were able to disable signatures for specific posts. I don't know how much effort it would take to implement such a feature, but it would be particularly pertinent anytime someone made a thread or guide with more than two consecutive posts.
