Granted, you have so many the living conditions are inhabitable, the rooms are filled with faecal matter and both the kittens and you have many diseases.

I wish for a remote that could play, pause, rewind, and fast forward time, affecting everything but the holder.

Granted, but by over abused the remote is stuck in rewind and you are sent to the day the earth wasn't even formed "Yea that one theory" and therefor you are stuck in space and you die by the lack of oxygen.
