Using pyrokinesis to easily overcome his low strength, the mage swings the enormous weapon right up in the air in a sweeping arc, and brings it crashing down on Mad Guy, the impact hitting his now brittle armor, rather than the person wearing it.

*as the hammer hits me, i get flown into a small crater and all my armor breaks off, turning to nothing but gorgonite scraps, however Duncan doesnt have time to check who his opponent truly is until i disappear. while he recovers from the strike, i quickly change my outfit, putting on leather armor, having enough padding to classify it as melee rather than ranged equipment. i also put on a hood that obscures my face and secure it tightly to ensure it never comes off. i reveal myself to Duncan*

"good job. unfortunately for you, i now lost my weakness to magic and this heavy leather is also much more fireproof than my regular armor"

*taking advantage of the leathers flexibility, i draw my knife, wielding it backhanded and proceed to charge towards Duncan, feigning a strike before appearing behind him and slashing him across his shoulder*

"megaleather, suited to fit my fighting style. sewing it was a pain in the behind, but now its here"

*i once again dart towards Duncan, attempting a real swipe this time*

Khep*i is the protagonist, Taylor Hebert, after she convinces Panacea to remove all of the restrictions to the former's powers. This causes Taylor's range of control and how good she is at controlling her swarm to get drastically decreased, along with her losing SAN points over time. What is the benefit to all this? She can now control anyone who gets within 16 feet of her, thereby allowing her to coordinate all the capes in multiple worlds to take down Omnicidal!Scion. The portals come in because one of the first capes she takes into her swarm is Doormaker, who makes portals (through which Khep*i's power extends), which, to make them her own, she has be hexagonal.
And I had read all of that pretty much the day before you brought up a hexagonal portal, so that means that my first reaction is 'Bad News'.

And, apparently, the censor dislikes the names of Egyptian gods. Those asterisks in that big ol' spoiler up there are supposed to be "r"s. Lord Yatagarasu, the Black Sun.

The mage's face takes an expression of surprise after having successfully broken his opponent's armor.

However, the warrior vanishes and reappears, wearing a completely new set of armor. ~So, he has more than just the gorgonite?~ the conjurer thinks to himself.

At that point, his opponent rushes forward, feigning and reappearing behind him, slashing him across the shoulder.

"Gah! ow." he splutter, jumping round to face is opponent. "I was wondering when you were gonna start using that teleportation technique of yours."

The mage's arm swings up, and there is a resounding clang as Mad Guy's knife is stopped in its tracks. Held in both hands, is a long, slender glaive. Intricately designed , with a katana-like blade, and two smaller blades either side like wings. Only, this one seems to be made of pure light rather than fire.

The mage jumps back, the glaive seeming to ripple in and out of existence, as armor of a similar look materializes on the fighter, light for agility, but its wearer now fully covered, face hidden behind the gleaming visage of some sort of bird of prey.

Holding out the glaive, The mage's armor lights up blindingly, all the spectrum bouncing prismatically, dancing across the surface of the snow, creating a blanket of startling white across the mountains that would blind the unprotected eye.

"Fire won't be any use to me here. You might not have known, but I have a couple other new tricks now."

The music changes to Conquest (ablaze) from Fire Emblem Awakening, as the mage rushes forward.

there is a resounding clang as the warrior's knife and the mage's weapon collide, followed by a series of quick attacks and parries. Eventually, the mage is outdone by the warrior's higher strength and knocked back, holding the glaive like a staff and using his light magic to produce a laser (stimulated by electromagnetic radiation, i.e light), similar the those used in laser cutters, at Mad Guy.

((i think you misunderstood that feign swipe. i never teleported, i just ran past and stopped behind you))

*i dodge the laser by ducking to the side, somewhat clumsily straightening myself up due to having such a short time to react. Duncan takes this opportunity to blind me with a flash of light and strike me with the glaive, drawing some blood. now with a small cut across my chest, i touch the wound and look at the bloody hand*

"*to self* hmm, he seems to fight like that stalker i fought in the desolate parts of daemonheim. i better watch my eyes"

*my eyesight clears up as Duncan attempts another strike with the glaive which i dodge by diving to my left, rolling back on to my feet and unsheathe a throwing knife. i then perform a backflip, kicking him at the same time and open a portal which i land in, appearing a few meters behind him preparing to throw my knife*

The mage yelps as he is kicked, his opponent vanishing again.

Then, for the mage, everything seems to slow down. The expression on his face changes from puzzlement, to realization, to understanding.

The knife flies silently through the air, glinting brightly. At that exact moment, the knife and the mage are both enveloped in a flash of light.

The next thing Mad Guy sees is the mage standing, facing him, the knife stuck blade down in the snow a few feet away.

Breathing heavily, the mage clutches the wound on his shoulder, remembering his weakness to cold and sealing it up with heat. This seems to take more of a toll on him than most of his magic attacks for some reason.

"Hey, where'd that tree come from?" he asks, noticing a tall pine to his left, behind which two figures seem to be hiding.

"Hey, we've got an audience now! Hiya!" he waves to the spectators.

*i see Duncan get distracted by a pair of spectators, slightly to my annoyance. a minute passes and in impatience i punch the tree, bringing it down and shocking the other three*

Duncan: "hey, you didnt have to do that!"

me: "keep your focus on the battle next time. this is a deathmatch, not a picnic!"

*i strike with my dagger which Duncan manages to block with the glaive and hits me with the handle. this attack prompts me to punch him hard in the torso and knee him in the face, but i miss the knee due to him keeling over from the punch. i jump back into a fighting stance, waiting for Duncan to make a move*
