Magma Caves
The stranger walks forward and pulls on a heavy glove before picking up a shard of the orb. What with it being quieter and lighter in here, Barlor and Sarah see that he looks identical to me except for round glasses instead of square ones, and shorter darker hair that’s spiked back. He has two grey stripes but seems the same age nonetheless. He also seems a little more well-spoken.
Stranger: This is some good crystal. It’s still got a hefty amount of that dark enchantment, whatever it was. Shame it was wasted on such a depraved spell.
As the cavern begins to shake, he nods at Sarah’s comment.
Stranger: Agreed. If you’ll give me a moment -
Crouching down, he places his free hand on the ground and closes his eyes for a few seconds, as if concentrating.
He then drives his sword into the ground, turning it almost like a key in a lock. The ground beneath the three tremors and rises a little. The rock around breaks into pieces and moves around it, propelling the tile they’re on straight toward the cave wall.
Before either of the other two have time to yell that they’re heading straight for the wall, they make impact - there’s a cloud of dust, and when it clears they’re still charging along, now with a new large arch in the wall behind them.
They slow down in a large boiling cavern where lava falls descend lazily into a murky abyss. The only relatively stable way across seems to be a natural stone bridge leading to an opening on the other side of the pit. On a wider, circular section halfway across there seems to be three suits of dark armour standing, like the type the black knights have but more elaborate. There seems to be a glimmer of red in their eyes for a second, but as the party spots them it dies out, as if they’d just imagined it.
(Yeah, I like the improvisational stuff we can do on the journey through the caves, like having a monster of the week without it feeling like the story is taking a backseat)
