Lore
You may also want to read NPC descriptions for this to make sense.
Since the Jameson expedition encountered the Illuminated in 2450, there has been a war between them and the UTF. Due to the war of the stars, the first truly interstellar war in mankind's history the Earth has had its population reduced to 2011 population levels.

Technology is extremely advanced in this era with all nations having faster than light travel, basic nanotechnology, coilguns, railguns, energy weaponry and shields.

The UTF used to be the entire solar system. However, during the war of the stars which recently led to a ceasefire they had to giving much of their land autonomy due to riots allowing them to focus on the Illuminated.

They currently control Greenland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland.

Game Mechanics

Time system
Like most other nc/cyoc games, DAW uses a post-based time system. One year in game is worth 5 page ingame.

Point system
This is what makes this game so different to every other CYOC genre game. You start off with 100 points to place in whatever categories you like. These categories reflect different aspects of the game. 1 Year of research translates to 1 point. You receive points from projects when the projects are completed. So say I start a 10 year project into combat suits (with no research bonus)-then I receive 10 points into combat suits after 10 years.

Earning points
You can be awarded points through projects, research and through war. Winning a war against a player results in you gaining 30 points, taking part in a war against a player nets you 10 points. The way you earn points typically is through the cycle system. A cycle lasts 20 pages. Every cycle you receive 10 points. I.e. the first cycle ends on page 20, of the first thread.

Players will be expected to keep count of their points by updating their original point tally they posted when they applied. If they don’t spend them within 6 days of receiving them (unless they are on leave) they lose those points.
All projects must be described briefly either at the start or end of the project if you want points for them. This applies for HFPE as well.

Co-operation bonuses.
If you do an economic project while you're a member of an economic alliance you will receive a 1.25x bonus to the number of points received. I.E. say I do a 20 year, 20 point project. Since I'm a member of an economic alliance-this will be raised to 25 points at the end of the 20 years. Note, if you are a member of multiple economic alliances you only receive the 1.25 boost. It doesn't stack.

If you co-operate on another player with research you receive a 20% boost to the number of points received. This is to a maximum of 1.6x the points with 4 people.
