Reden's emotions mixed as he felt angry, sad, confused, and distraught at the sight of another dead friend. He looked at Selvi, who was leaning against him, and noticed she was crying.
The darkness of the Jewels was beginning to take effect...

-------------------------

"Dang it," Zito muttered as he pulled out junk from the pockets of another slain man.
"This one didn't have one either?" Xiato Inquired.
Tial stared down at the mangled body of the man and said, "Well, he has had one before."
"How can you tell?" Zito asked.
Tial leaned down and picked up the man's wrist. She turned it over and revealed a small circular shape on the back.
"That is the mark of the Jewel," she explained.
Zito was intrigued. He looked at his own wrist and noticed the same engraving beginning to form on the back of it.
"We should continue searching," Xiato said.
Zito nodded and asked, "Which town should we go to next?"
"I feel one," Xiato exclaimed.
Zito turned and asked, "Where is it coming from?"
Xiato closed his eyes and began to concentrate. After a few moments he said, "Reinth."
"That town is a myth," Tial said coldly.
Zito looked at Tial and said, "No, it is real."
"How do you know?" Tial asked.
Xiato smirked and said, "He was born there."

-------------------------

Sinoto sat in his regular chair. Slowly rocking back and forth, thinking to himself. Trey walked into the room and sat down in the corner, as if disappointed.
"Something wrong Trey?" Sinoto asked.
Trey looked up and shook his head saying, "No, I'm frustrated that I cannot locate Reden."
"Ahh," Sinoto said understandingly.
"What happened to the captives Kirth had talked about?" Trey asked.
Sinoto looked confused for a moment before realizing what Trey was talking about. He said, "They escaped."

"You let them escape?" Trey inquired.
Sinoto frowned and said, "Of course. They went into the woods South of here. I forgot to tell you."
"Why were you going to tell me?" Trey asked.
Sinoto sighed and said, "Because they will lead you to Reden."
Trey's eyes widened and he asked, "How could you forget that?"
He immediately ran out of the house, obviously infuriated. Sinoto looked out the window and watched Trey run off into the shadows of the forest.
Sinoto laughed to himself and thought, 'He'd better hurry, or ZTX will beat him there..."

_= Chapter 10: Reinth =_

The air was chilled by the soft flow of a light breeze. The night was clear and the star's gorgeous glow was easily visible in the sky. A light shot across, and seemingly crashed into the horizon. A deafening explosion rattled the still air and startled creatures of the night ran about in confusion. Another flash was seen, and a second explosion could be heard breaking the silence.
Reden awoke to the explosion. He looked up into the sky and watched the stars flutter brightly and clearly, uninterrupted. He sat very still and quiet, as to not awake the others. His hair was a mess and his mind was encased in a stifling paradox. He could not force himself to dispose of the Jewel... nor did he wish to keep it. He thought of his obsession with the Jewel, and the misery that came along as a side effect.
"Reden, what are you doing up?"
Reden was startled by the voice and he turned his head slightly to his right. Sitting on a nearby stump was Selvi. Reden could tell she hadn't been able to sleep by the dark circles which lay below her eyes.
Reden asked, "Couldn't you fall asleep either?"
"No," Selvi replied with a shake of her head.
Reden could only image how distorted her mind was at the moment. She had lost two of her best friends... and even been kidnapped at one time. He had experienced the same, but the Jewel overcame his emotions and he was able to deal with it.
"This Jewel," Reden muttered to himself.
"What is it?" Selvi asked.
Reden moved his hand to the side of his pocket and patted it softly, allowing himself to be reassured that the Jewel was still there.
"I can feel it overtaking me," He stuttered.
Selvi began to walk slowly over to Reden and she said, "The book was right,"
"Yes," Reden replied.
Selvi sat down beside him and asked, "What are the effects of the Jewels?"
"Hmm?" Reden asked.

Selvi looked at him and repeated herself, "What are the effects of the Jewels?"
"The effects," Reden began, "are terrible."
Selvi listened intensely and seemed completely intrigued with what Reden was saying. She watched as he stopped for a moment and moved his hand towards his pocket. Right when he realized what he was doing however, he jerked his hand back in front of him. He stared at it and turned his hand over. His eyes grew wide as he saw the engraving of the Jewel mark on the back of his right hand.
He stood up and said, "We need to go to sleep now, we leave for Reinth in the morning."
"Okay," Selvi replied, disappointed.
He walked towards the woods and was enveloped in the shadows. Selvi watched him leave and the sighed softly. She stood up and walked over to her sleeping bag... and she slowly drifted into a deep sleep.

------------------

The streets were empty and cold sheets of rain poured down from the heavens. The poor on the corners of the streets shivered fiercely in reaction to the devastating temperature. On one of the corners a man was sitting against the side of a building, singing softly to himself.
The rain slowly grew steadier and stronger as it continuously pounded down on the unprotected people of Reinth. They had nowhere to go, so many of them huddled together wrapped in a single blanket.
Times were rough for Reinth, during the depression. Poverty was an endless sickness, killing many and causing turmoil for others. The man was looking down as he sang a soft melodious tune. The parka that covered his body and shielded him from the extreme cold was beginning to wear away.

he man mumbled another verse but paused to shiver as a chilling gust of wind crashed into his side, causing him to tense in reply.
"Is this the place?" A voice from the shadows asked.
"Yes, this is where it is heading towards, slowly, yet surely," another voice replied.
"Zito, shouldn't we look for an inn?" the first voice asked.
Zito stepped out of the shadows and asked, "Why not have a little fun first?"
He smirked and narrowed his eyes. His hand slowly removed the sword from its sheath and its metal material immediately glistened from the change in temperature.
"You know what?" Tial asked.
Xiato turned towards her and replied with a grunt.
"I've never seen Zito fight before," she said.
"Then watch," Zito murmured.

---------------------

Trey ran through the forest at an incredible speed. His mind raced with anger for Sinoto and hatred for Reden. He had no idea why he hated Reden so much, all he knew was that he did.
Trey stopped in front of a huge wall; the wall of Reinth. He knew that would be where Reden would head. He did not know for sure, but he had a gut feeling that he had to follow.
He lifted up the giant axe off his back and smashed it into the wall, sending dust and debris upward in a tornado-like fashion. Guards rushed to the scene, hoping to find the perpetrator immediately and be able to subdue him.
"Hold back!" the captain shouted.
He knew he had to keep his men under control if they were to apprehend the criminal. As he began to shout his next command, a devilish cackle filled the cold night air. Screams of innocents burst through the silence of the frosty night and pierced the hearts of the men.
"What the hell was that?" the captain asked his lieutenant.

"I have no idea," he replied.
The captain nodded and shouted, "Half of you go with Lieutenant Dupre and investigate those screams!" He waited a moment before continuing. "Be on your guard and be weary of your surroundings! We will apprehend the criminal here!" the captain finished.
The men nodded and Lieutenant Dupre ran off in the direction the hellish screams had come from.
"Okay men!" the captain shouted. "Let's go!"
The seven men, including the captain, began to slowly approach the large hole in the wall. The dust was beginning to settle, and they could see the outline of a man standing with a large axe.
"Drop your weapon!" the captain shouted.
Trey laughed and said, "Very well."
He slammed it down into the ground, sending a white wave sliding along towards the group of men. The captain's eyes grew wide as the wave approached them.
"Fall back!" the captain screamed at them in fear.
The men turned to run but the wave's momentum caught them with ease and sliced through the very bone of the men and sent miscellaneous body parts flying into the darkness. Blood sprayed upon the ground and walls. The men did not even have time to scream as they were ripped apart alive...

---------------------

Blood splashed on the ground, mixing with the cold sleet. A man cried in terror as Tial decimated him, piece by piece. Xiato leaned against a wall and yawned.
He asked, "Why don't you let Zito take a shot now?"
"Fine," Tial muttered in disappointment.
Zito stood up after squatting on the ground. He turned his sword in his hand and stretched his arm, loosening the joints.
He put himself in the ready position and chose a target, the singing man. He ran towards the man, preparing to annihilate him from existence. The man looked up and saw him rushing towards him, ready to kill.

He jumped up and removed the parka, revealing a sturdy body. Zito's eyes widened and he quickly stopped and jumped to the side just as an explosion destroyed the patch of land that he had been standing on.
"You..." Zito muttered.
The man held a long, white sword. His amulet of Fury glistened with a small layer of frost while his eyes stood fixed upon Zito. He wore black clothing, like that of a priest.
"Been a long time Zito," the man said.
Tial and Xiato stood confused and Tial asked, "You know him?"
"Sadly," Zito replied, "this man, is my brother."
"So, you're ashamed?" Zito's brother asked.
Zito grew flustered and shouted, "Don't act like you're better than me Leo!"
"Better? No, I'm much better," Leo replied smugly.
The tension grew even more as Zito and his brother stared into each other's eyes with a deep hatred. A smirk came onto Leo's face and he began to chuckle.
"What the hell is so funny?" Zito shouted.
Leo stopped for a moment and replied, "I just noticed you have a Jewel. As do I."
"You - you have a Jewel?" Zito stuttered.
Leo stifled a laugh and said, "Of course. I'm strong, but I need more."
"I'll have to kill you then," Zito murmured.
"Ha! As if you could!” Leo shouted.
Zito narrowed his eyes and asked, "Which Jewel do you possess?"
"Hmm, let's see," Leo muttered as he moved his hand to his pouch, "This one!"
He pulled the purple Jewel from his pouch and raised it up. He laughed and mocked Zito.
"That Jewel will be mine," Zito said forcefully.
Leo opened himself up for an attack and said, "Free shot."
"Then take this!" Zito shouted as he charged towards Leo.
His fist connected with the tanned skin on his right cheek and he sent Leo flying backwards into a wall. Leo stood up easily and laughed at Zito's attempt at injuring him.
"Good try, now, I shall use the Jewel," Leo said.
"What?" Zito inquired.

Leo stared at him and said calmly, "This Jewel, is the Jewel of pain."
"Crud," Zito muttered as he began to back up.
"So you know what it can do then?" Leo asked as he took a step towards his brother.
Zito began to sweat from his brow and asked, "Where did you find it?"
"You won't need to know!" Leo shouted as he began to charge towards Zito.
He slashed fiercely at his body, but Zito was able to deflect or parry every blow. Leo muttered something to himself and the Jewel began to glow brightly.
"Crud," Zito muttered.
Tial and Xiato watched anxiously, ready to interfere at any moment. They were watching carefully however, until the guards appeared.
"Take them all out!" Lieutenant Dupre shouted.
The guards began to rush towards Tial and Xiato. They had other plans though, as the raised their swords and with a few quick swipes, blood stained their blades.
Lieutenant Dupre took a step back and began to tremble. He had just watched his best men slaughtered mercilessly before his very eyes. He turned to run, but met face to face with Tial.
"Running eh?" Tial asked as she pierced his stomach with the sharp blade. Blood began to flow from the wound and it also appeared at the mouth. She quickly removed the blade and Lieutenant Dupre leaned over, gagging.
"Well, that stinks," Lieutenant Dupre muttered as he coughed up another pint of blood.
Tial flung her foot into Dupre’s face, snapping his neck backwards and killing him instantly. He fell to the ground, motionless. Tial flung his limp body into a wall and walked back up to Xiato. They looked back to where Zito and Leo had been fighting, only to find that they had vanished.

_= Chapter Eleven: The Battles of Reinth =_
Reden stepped over several piles of rubble lying around the area. The wall had been blown to pieces... and the bodies of countless guards lay thrown about. Selvi gasped as she saw the mangled bodies of the guards and blood flowing like a small creek through the cracks of the rubble.
Vierte paused for a moment and examined the ruined site. He glanced at the bloody, motionless bodies of the guards and sighed. He turned back towards Reden and Selvi and saw the fear which rested in Selvi's eyes.
He said, "These men were murdered... This was not because of the destruction of the wall."
Reden nodded and asked, "Where do we go now?"
Vierte looked towards a demolished house and narrowed his eyes. With an incredibly fast motion, he jumped to the side in time to avoid the sharp tip of a knife.
"Stay back," Vierte said.
He removed his sword from his sheath and he gazed into the shadows of the ruined home. He quickly pointed the tip towards the wrecked place and he pulled the Jewel from his pocket.
Reden noticed something about Vierte's sword; it had a small place cut out for some object. Reden guessed it was for the Jewel... and he guessed correctly.
Vierte carefully placed the small Jewel into the sword; when done, the sword was bright as the sun, power pulsating from its core.
Vierte turned his attention back to the house, but quickly changed his direction and turned towards a pile of rubble.
"Feltio!" he shouted.
The same streak of power from before blasted from the tip of the sword, shining white as it flew through the air. It made contact with the rubble seconds after being casted, sending thousands of pieces of rock flying into the sky.

Vierte narrowed his eyes once more and he saw movement coming from the dust and raining rock. He quickly placed his sword into a defensive position, and readied himself.
Another knife pierced the air at neck-break speed. Vierte dodged it with ease by jumping into the air, but when doing so he opened himself up for another attack.
Trey jumped out of the shadows, his Great Axe high above his head. He came down hard towards Vierte, only missing barely.
Vierte landed on the ground with a grunt and looked back up towards Trey. However, he didn't notice Trey coming from the side preparing to strike.
"Watch out!" Reden shouted.
Trey's eyes widened and he diverted his attack, launching himself using his feet towards Reden and Selvi. Reden grabbed his dagger and attempted to defend himself against Trey's onslaught.
"Prepare to die Reden!" Trey shouted.
Vierte quickly jumped in front of Reden and Selvi and blocked Trey's attack with a quick move of his sword. He forced Trey backwards with the swipe and he frowned.
"Don't attack them," Vierte said harshly.
Trey laughed and said, "Don't get in my way. Or else you will die as well."
"Try it," Vierte said, a serious expression on his face.
Trey smirked and said, "Well, at least I'll have some fun."

---------------

Tial thought to herself, 'Why would Zito leave us?'
Xiato leaned against a wall a few feet away from her and suddenly his eyes opened.
"Tial," he began, "a Jewel is close by."
"Really now?" Tial asked.
Xiato smirked and said, "Let's go get it."
They began to run towards the demolished wall but they ran face to face with a strange man. He dressed in all blue and he held a small pouch in his hand; along with a sword sheathed at his side.
Xiato smirked and said, "Get out of the way."
The man did not move at all; he merely stood there with his eyes closed.
"Come on you idiot," Tial said, obviously frustrated.
