~Alleyway Refreshments~

Slurp, burp, clear of throat and sniff
Musty dampness in the murky air
Clinks of unwashed glass and the
Movement of oaken stool legs for
Tool dregs of poisons in forgotten
Sons. The Landlord bored behind
Conveyor belt of wife beaters and
Slumping low lives—“Pint of bitter
-ness, please,” grunting wheeze,
Grease slapped sleaze on poles like
Teflon coated objects with objectives
Of a fly, dirty filthy riddled with S.T.D
-evils drowning in the drink of sin.

~Sir Winston Churchill and the War Cabinet~

During the second world war
(WW2) Sir Winston, as he was known,
was in charge of the War Cabinet
where all the most important war documents
were kept—things like leaflets on how to
make bombs; photos of enemies; trade
secrets; the recipe for poisonous
glue; and his toilet paper.

Churchill used the information to
singlehandedly win the war.

After the war he used the cabinet to keep
his own personal stuff in—plans for brick walls,
sheets, knick knacks, whisky, mags and vids.

~Back in Birmingham~

Well, it’s nighttime
And the streetlights glow upon a nightmare, citywide
When up walks the princess, a virginal beau
With make-up so crudely applied
And lo, he came a creeping like a great white shark
Resplendent in his voguish attire
And if she is the gunpowder he is the spark
A really quite dishonourable squire
And with one great rush there comes a big hot flush
Tiptoeing up her chest and her cheeks
And he’s revelling in the sweet aroma of sin
Because desperation reeks

~Rattenfänger von Hereford County Court~

I did the dishes, cleaned clothes and all that,
Honest,
I did,
Only got a small flat.

I tried to make supper, you know, oh please,
Honest,
I tried,
Made macaroni and cheese.

I told her to go to school, she hasn’t been,
Honest,
I told,
Just hasn't looked keen.

Please pied judge, I’m out of work, single mum,
You know how it is, I’ll do better, and I’m not scum,
Help me please, judge piper, not that, not the asylum,
I’ll stop it, I’ll do better just give her back to me, she’s only 6, give me my daughter.

(This will help understand the poem:

Fawza Falih Muhammad Ali was a Saudi woman who made international headlines after she was condemned to death for practicing witchcraft in 2006. In April 2011, Saudi authorities reported that she had died in 2010.

In a letter dated February 13, 2008, a researcher with Human Rights Watch exhorted King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to halt her execution. The letter states she was sentenced to death by beheading for the crimes of witchcraft. Human Rights Watch argued that Falih should not be executed because the crime of witchcraft is not defined by Saudi law, the judges failed to ensure a fair trial, and Falih was unable to defend herself because of "significant procedural flaws throughout the trial".

Fawza Falih was prevented from a defence at the trial, and that she was sentenced only on the basis of one man's testimony of allegedly causing him impotence. Denied access to her lawyer, a confession was extracted via 35 days of repeated beatings. The beatings were so severe she had to receive medical treatment. Fawza had to sign the offered confession by thumbprint due to her being illiterate. Although Fawza Falih had recanted her confession, and no further evidence had come forth, the Court of Appeals on September 1, 2006, upheld the decision to execute her anyway, in the name of "public interest". In April 2011, Saudi authorities reported that she had died in jail in 2010 after choking on her food.)

~Fawza Falih~

Kings create scapegoats
As the Shepard Lord does, in his flocks
And bend to scrape moats
To find a hairpin for the locks.
Black cat, hat to match
Pimple and crooked, always nefarious
Egyptian cat, good catch
She’s a problem vicarious

The modern witch hunting
From Wicca bacchic beginnings, static
And old-fashioned shunting
As written down in Arabic.
Denied riots, signed papers
Of intentional legal flaws, by Abdullah
Executed in smoke vapors
The only escape from Kulla.

—She “choked on some food”

~The World’s Oldest Profession~

A lovely little crumpet, teachers would say,
Awarding glittery star stickers and crimson ink A, A, A.
Who could have predicted a backwards chrysalis?
Sweet shimmering curls and Christian clothes
Covering peccadillo
Like armour of armadillo
Snapping and splintering revealing
Pinky flesh
Flushed curves bulging
Beating heart
Thumping blood
In out in out in out in out.

Adolescence mutating a silent girl,
To a creature of salient sin.

A dirty little strumpet, neighbors now say,
Leering at her glittered undies and crimson lipstick X, X, X.
Obeying caterpillar munching lunching hunching
Make-up maquillage masking lank hair, and skimpy fashions
Tied tight leaving bruises
On her pale thighs
"Open wide!
Here comes the train"!
Paid slave
Waylaid maid
Soul vacant meat
Who knew?
