The trio went steadily along though the woods, stopping every now and then to ajust loads and wonder if they were even going in the right direction. Now they were out of the woods, walking in filthy gray ashes made mud by the rain. Sometimes they passed a stilted tree, dripping like everything else, gray-green leaves curled inwards as though in a hopeless effort to warm itself. And over everything, the rain poured down so hard that the plain that the three walked on began to look as though it had sunk into to sea.
After a few more hours of walking with heavy packs, Teegan and Sukrae began to lag behind, although Sukrae tried not to show it, gallantly helping Teegan foward. Ten more soaking minutes passed, before Taena, up ahead, shouted,
"Hey! There's another cave up here! We must've hit the cliff again!"
Sure enough, up ahead, there was a tunnel that led into the solid rock face of the cliff that contained Keppon's body. Taena stood looking at it, as Teegan and Sukrae struggled up.
"You guys? I think we should leave now alright?"
"Why?"
"Why?"
"I think something lives ther...."
Taena spun around as a mencing growl peirced the clamor of the rain.
