~~~~ Fish and Milk ~~~~
A high wind was beginning to brew in the center of the gleaming metropolis of Varrock. The streets were abuzz with activities of the early morning: Wagons made their way through the winding streets, Women clutched their children to them as they ran to the bakery, men bustled about their work. All was calm that day, none knew the foreboding future which would tarnish it, none knew what grim woes lay on the horizon.
The owner of the Varrock general store walked calmly from the ladder I the corner of the room. He went over to the desk and leaned against it wearily. He sighed, glancing down at the desk and scratching his head a little. The man was getting on in years, his bones now ached with the slightest exertion and his body moved slower and slower by the day.
He knew that he needed an aid in the shop, and for some time he had looked for one, but unfortunately he did not have the funds to pay him. His financial situation was getting bleak. Not only had sales dropped, adventurers going to that massive beast called the grand exchange for their supplies, but the economy itself was slowing down. The most skilled of fletchers now used alchemy on their bows, inflating the currency, and now even his monopoly on tinderboxes had been torn to shreds by the grand exchange. He and his shop were now old and obsolete.
He shook his head slowly a she sank into these thoughts, but he would not allow himself to sink into depression, he must persist! He peered around the small room, disordered shelves were crammed with the cheapest of junk imaginable, small broken tables, some even cracked in two, sat with sale stickers taped to them. His prospects were grim.
Suddenly he was knocked off his feet as the earth began to tremor. The shelves rattled, glass fell to the floor. The aged store owner attempted to get to his feet, but the brown apron he wore got caught and he fell to the ground again. He was now on all fours attempting to work his way to the door, but as the earth’s
convolutions continued. He was knocked forwards. He lay on the floor for a moment, his grey beard was soaked in blood, his face was covered by jam, jelly, and bits of broken glass.
He opened his eyes. The sudden outburst had ceased like a child lulled to sleep after a vicious tantrum. All was quiet, too quiet. He got up and made his way to the door, he opened it, the disturbance enough to knock down a picture of his father from the wall which had been hanging loosely for some days now. He stepped out into the square, the bustle had ceased, all the townsmen gazed silently at the center of the square.
A cold and vicious purr came from the center of the fountain, a small black animal stood there silently, menacingly. The creature stretched out its long, agile body, it’s whiskers protruding evilly from it’s face. The creature said in a soft and honey-sweet purr, “Before I will consider sparring your *purr* lives... I would like each and every one of you to get me a *purr* fish and a bowl of milk!” It gave a cold, threatening smile then sat down expectantly.
For a moment the gathered civilians stood in both shock and disbelief. The cat continued, “Well, hurry up!” Suddenly the crowd turned into a panicked mob, men rushed back to their houses to get the requested items, young children went to their favorite hiding places to cry, everyone was filled with fear. The only one who didn't move was a young boy of around 12, he stood there, petrified.
The cat gave him a cold look, it’s whiskers pointed arrogantly. A jolt of energy shot from the cat and stuck the boy. He was flung backwards, his face transformed in pain, his limbs twitching with torture. His body went limp. Once more civilians rushed to the cat and dropped down before it, begging and pleading to present their offering first.
The beast smiled a cold and cruel smile. It was laced with combined satisfaction and glee. The cat sat down cordially, lapping up the milk given it. An ominous silence filled the entire town, not a man stirred. "Good, I *purr* like it very much," smirked the Cat, "So much, that you all would make fabulous... SLAVES!"
The populace leaped to their feat, each scrambled away from the ferocious kitten, piling over on another in distress, but it was too late. All vanished, all disappeared, all were dragged into the void of Scaperune.
The reign of Evil Bob was neigh.
