Rep. McArthur (U.S.): The creators of the game RuneSpace wish to remain anonymous, but they have a representative has consented to speaking with us over videophone. Please, sir, can you tell us anything about what happened and how.
John Doe: We keep detailed records of what happens in the game in order to detect rule-breakers, so we believe we have found the source of these events. Last Thursday at 7:42 P.M. Eastern time, there was a clash between two groups of artificial intelligences on the edge of the asteroid belt within the game. A group of Black Knights in space ships encountered a family of green dragons. During this battle was an unusually large explosion involving several rockets and a spaceship. After this point, there are contradictions in the record. Several A.I.*s seem to have disappeared from the area without dying or teleporting.
Rep. Thompson (G.B.): What does this mean for Earth?
John Doe: There is good news and bad news. The good is that this wormhole, as it is being called, occurred in the game’s outer space, meaning most of the game’s monsters are unable to reach it of their own accord. The bad news is that when two groups of artificial intelligences clash, they typically declare war on each other. Because this war is unresolved so far, more Black Knights and dragons are heading for the wormhole at all times. Because RuneSpace has become a solid universe, we are unsure if any of these problems can be rectified through programming.
