“No, no,* Armadyl chided. He knelt down beside his follower. “Not at all. It is us who failed, Saradomin and I.” By now Saradomin had regained his balance and joined them. “You knew what you were getting into, Exile. You couldn’t have done any more than you did. I could have held onto the Staff long enough to teleport you to safety. It was foolish fear that did us in.”
“There are so many things we could have done differently,” Saradomin added. “But now we must get out of here. It is no longer safe.” He chanted a quick spell, creating a purple sphere that surrounded the remaining inhabitants of the room. The room grew larger to Exile’s eyes as they shrunk, and then they appeared in a chamber with bright white walls and a sparkling white floor.
“Welcome to Heaven,” Armadyl said, rising. A few of the other adventurers were coming to, now. Exile lay on his back and did*’t move. His strength had deserted him and he was content to simply take in the beauty and splendor of this place. The ceiling was high above, a dome of interwoven pieces of stained glass. They depicted no specific image, just a swirl of color. Sunlight streamed in through large, high windows.
“Wha…?” mumbled Katherine from beside him. “Where – where are we?” Blood stained her black hair where she had cracked her head on the stones when they arrived in Zaros’ throne room, the source of her unconsciousness.
“Heaven,” supplied Saradomin. Suddenly, there was a pop and Guthix appeared beside them. His gray robes were spattered with blood, and large gashes mangled his body. He was panting.
“What happened?” he gasped, his eyes quickly taking in the scene. “Where’s the Staff?”
“With Zaros,” replied Armadyl sourly. “Just wait for the others to wake up, I’d prefer to explain it only once.”
