I feel as though it's a question that doesn't need to to answered. Even if it is, we don't know that it is in character, and there's no reason for us to be told because it could turn into a metagame issue. If it is necessary to know, it'll be revealed in character, so wait for that rather than pushing for the answer out of character. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Also you seem to be under the impression that everything revolves around Soahc. Why do you think that?

I mean he probably has a significant level involvement, given that the troll's riddle made indirect reference to the other events, but I doubt he is some puppet master with direct control over everything bad that happens.

But so far what we've been presented with is three different stories that are probably indirectly connected and will eventually directly connect.

Have you ever considered something much more likely? Like, the troll is controlled, summoned, or created by the Hags, the people we are actually here to kill, and they have some behind the scenes deal with Soahc?

This is just my personal speculation of course. Maybe everything does revolve around Soahc and Soahc does control the troll, but to me it seems unlikely.

I doubt the hags the first group are dealing with have a connection to Soahc, unless everything the hags that are actually with him have said has been interpreted wrong by me. The coven have their own agenda, separate from the demi-god, and I don't think the two have plots that wind within each other. Maybe Soahc's winds through theirs, but I doubt theirs has him in it at all. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Soahc could just be manipulating the hags that are actively working with him, while he works with the other coven on the side. He's the god of chaos, so I doubt he would have any problems with playing both sides.

Think about it for a moment. You've got three different conflicts/threats all occurring at the same time at opposite corners of the continent - east, west, north. Adventurers, heroes, and mercenaries of all sorts are being drawn towards them. Seems awfully convenient for someone who has bigger plans in say, the south.
